Modulation seems to be heard after sound intialized

Post by amotz » Tue Oct 20, 2009 7:06 pm

Hi all,

After "initial parameters" on my moog voyager, I still here some like LFO modulation on Cutoff filter.
All oscilattors are set to off, but osc1 and no modulation is requested from the LFO/modulation busses.
As it is only Osc1 it is not a matter of "beating" either. What can it be then?

Enevlope sync? or some hidden modulation ?

Thanks for answering .

Is it coming from the mod bus or pedal source?

Make sure the mod wheel is down all the way and adjust the amount of both busses to see if there is something easy afecting the filter.

THen go and see what the programmable destinations are set to and if the pointers are initially saved to point to programmable destination.

Then tell us what happened if anything.

Just a guess (after running a few tests) : make sure your 3-1 FM switch is off. Depending on all the Osc3 settings (switches included), you can have a modulation that will affect the sound and make it sound like lfo filter modulation. It is usually quite strong, but can me mild too with some settings. Make sure also all your modulation sources in the 2 mod busses sections are not set to Osc1, Osc2 or Osc3

The way the Voyager is built, it's possible to create 2 oscillators full sounding patches, with everything OFF (all switches and volumes) in the mixer section.

Edit : Wow!!!, you were not kidding when mentioning Gryphon as musical influence. I like your stuff. And I like the flute in it.

still, strange modulation

Post by amotz » Thu Oct 22, 2009 4:19 pm

hi again
i still have this unwanted modulation. now, when i start with "initial parameters", which is with osc1 only, everything is OK, BUT, when i add osc 2 or 3 (or both) i get this strange modulation, like LFO on the filter cuoff
the 2 mod busses are down all the way, so what is it?
HELP, it is giving me hard life here !!
