A little Voyager demo clip with Empirical Labs Fatso Jr.

Post by Carey M » Tue Sep 22, 2009 8:05 am

Some time ago, I traded my Midimini for a Moog Voyager Electric Blue. The Voyager is noticeably tamer than the Midimini, but great sounding nevertheless. We also got an Empirical Labs Fatso Jr. to our bands studio very recently. Pairing the Fatso with the Voyager was one of the first things I wanted try, to find out if the the Fatso could make the Voyager a bit more aggressive (like the Midimini could be).

Here's what I came up with. All sounds, except drums, from the Voyager. The result is still different from the old Minimoog sound, and I only used light coloring on the Fatso, but imo it really gave the Vger some of that "extra kick over the cliff" ;) I really do not miss the Midimini at all anymore :)

Of course you can't compare the original sound to this processed one, so I think I'll make a proper comparison demo some time next week...

Very nice sounds! Thanks for sharing. I would love to hear a comparison demo. That Fatso Jr. sounds interesting.

I use my Distressor's or Langevin on my voyager all the time and it pretty much add some more edge to it, though I figured it's better not to use long attack and release time's to keep the settings on the Moog accurate.

cheers
