EricK — just go for it man. I listened to some of the vids and yes while it's an uncommon meeting of sounds you have just as much right to experiment with the Voyager as a guitarist would with a thousand effects pedals.
Plus, what you are playing sounds 'musical', you're playing melodies that are harmonious with the music and then tripping it out with some cool effects.
Sounds like your buddies are stuck in a puritanical time warp and need to open their minds a little bit. It's a jam session and it's meant to be fun; music is not about 'right or wrong' especially in that setting.
Cheers

That's also my opinion about it. Don't waste your time or energy on them, do your thing and have fun!!lexsadler wrote: what you are playing sounds 'musical', you're playing melodies that are harmonious with the music and then tripping it out with some cool effects.

By the way, I prefer your 'solo' work. (Although you're two in Rhytmicons)

Currently Im working on an all Moog solo album. Im about 4 songs deep into that project.
amazing what you can do with a voyager
I'm a bass player so initially bought it for that, but recently we've been producing drum tracks with it, all kinds of things...

It seems like the guys you're playing with are definitely blues rock purists (**shudder**). You could be Herbie Hancock and they'd still ask you to turn the Moog down.
While it's probably the most versatile instrument I've ever owned, the Moog still has an incredibly distinctive sound and it has its time and place. Trying to play an analog monosynth like it's a Rhodes seems kind of pointless to me, and if you're going to try to fake that sound, there are MUCH cheaper ways to do it.
Moog have always been & always will be primarily a tool for making experimental (or at least "non-conventional") music. It's best to work with musicians who share that mindset & can appreciate and utilize what a Moog can do & not focus on what it cannot.

How about signing up for this festival? Lots of opportunities to jam with other synth lovers.
