New LP Stage II Clacking C Keys & a few tuning issues...
Hey guys
I just bought a new LP and am having a couple of issues - just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
Firstly - all of the Cs on the keyboard seem to make a very distinct 'clacking' sound/feel when they're pressed - especially the lowest one. All the other keys seem to bottom out with a dull 'thud' but the Cs all click/clack - has anyone else had this issue?
Also, i'm having a few tuning issues. I turn on the KB and let it warm up for around 20mins before playing, but even with autotune on, I still have to manually tune the LP as it's always nearly half a semitone out. Also - the oscillators seem to sometimes be out of tune with each other - for instance, sometimes certain patches will be very clean and other times the same patches will sound very 'chorus-like', like the OSCs are slightly detuned.
Any tips?
Cheers!!

Hi
I have had 2 LP2's the first was the MK1 and that really did go out of tune alot , infact everyday....I sold it on....
The one i have now is a MK2 and its a little better although i also find that on some patches the 2 oscillators seem to be very slightly out with eachother, giving a modulated effect...
I seem to hear it more in the higher octaves...
Hence i only use the phatty for bass. single oscilator lead sounds ...Or effects

Mike- it sounds like maybe you need to run the calibration on notes and pitch bend once your LP has been on for 20 mins and has stabilised. As far as the keys go, it shouldnt be playing as youve described and i suspect it may have been jolted during shipping to the store or something...
My tribute arrive perfectly from the states brand new and doesnt have any of the issues youve described..
Maybe Amos could chime in with some thoughts..

Thanks for the replies guys.
I just updated the OS to 2.1 and the tuning seems to be a lot more stable once warmed up. After 20mins or so the OSCs seem to stay in tune with each other and the overall tuning is a lot closer to what it should be.
So the only thing I'm a bit concerned about now is the clacking C keys. Does anyone else's unit have this problem? Just trying to get a bit of info from Moog/user base before taking it back to store which is quite a drive from where I live.
Cheers!

You make me very anxious with all these reports for faults...i'm waiting for my Little Phatty and it will be hard as hell to send it back to the country i got it from. I can't believe that such an expensive and legendary product has so many reports for faults...Georsh wrote:Same clacking keys problem. I took it back to store 2 times.
Any solution ?
Can i fix it myself by opening my little phatty ?
Well, i was always thinking that a big part of the price for a Moog synth goes to that reliability factor..tis doesn't mean that the products are free of faults of course, but that in rare occasions we have to send them back...anyway, faults are everywhere, i just read many of them in the same page..maybe its because of many people who only post the problems...(I hopeEricK wrote:Well, Moog is owned and operated by Human Beings.

I checked with our Phatty QC person and she says she has seen this issue with clicky keys occasionally, but she has not allowed any units to pass that were more than slightly clicky. We are going to pay very close attention to this and see if we need to work with the keybed manufacturer to address any issues.
If you think your keybed is unusually clicky, best thing is to contact techsupport@moogmusic.com and see if we can work this out directly.
I would reassure anyone who is waiting to receive an LP or who is concerned about this issue, that it is very rare.
