Buying a solar voyager what case?

Post by Fogflip » Thu Aug 13, 2009 6:27 pm

Hey guys decided to part ways with my phatty and get a voyager so far im loving the solar color but the pics i have found dont help much for case clarity. Any input on the case colors would be great torn between ash, walnut or mahogany maybe even a white wash. I know ultimately im the deciding factor but all input is great thanks.

Edit forgot to say the two front runners are walnut or mahogany.

Edit:

If you plan on purchasing a Walking Stick Ribbon Controller from Joe Sperduti, you might consider getting in touch with him to see which case would be easiest for him to match your Walking Stick's finish with. I have a Performer, and asked him how easy it would be to match the finish. He said that he was having problems being able to match Performers because of the type of wood he's using for the controller.

Otherwise, get the Walnut. (I love a nice Walnut finish.) :D

Also, if you'll be gigging with it, remember that Mahogany is really heavy! (Assuming it's made of Mahogany, and not a 'generic' hardwood with a Mahogany stained finish...)

My SE is walnut. It's a classy looking wood.

Yea i already have a walking stick and it looks like the walnut will match decently the mahogany SE i don't think has enough grain to it. I am also considering ordering from nova musik they where very helpful on the phone and negotiate price which is very thumbs up of them. another plus i belive about walnut is it will match my new monome 256 :)

Hey MC you got a link to a few photos

Mine is mahogany/lunar. It has an awesome finish to it. Really classy.

If I ever get a second Voyager it will probably be mahogany/something again.

No, I actually got it from a dealer in Greece. Here's how it looks:

It depends on the light, I guess. Generally speaking mahogany has that deep red tint to it, whereas walnut is more brown. Here's another photo in more natural light:

Hey Fogflip

I almost bought the solar but at the last minute went with a mahogany fire. It was a hard call between that and the whitewash lunar or blue. But it was a matter of wanting a softer glow in the studio at night in the dark when I play :) plus it matched my other gear. so as you can see I ponder color a lot.

If I had gotten the solar the walnut would have been my first choice. That wonderful grain and brown tone with the orange is first class retro 70's all the way to me. Love it.

So i pulled the trigger and ordered the walnut/solar it will look quite dashing next to my monome 256 which is my main tool. Once it gets hear i will take some photos of them together (making music baby's). Thank you guys for all the input originally i wanted the mahogany but after much deliberation its just do deep and to red. Some one hurry up and buy my little phatty now that is in the us. haha once again thanks.

I don't think you will regret the walnut either. The mahogany seemed like it would overpower the solar color whereas the walnut compliments it well. Awesome well please post some pictures when you get it.. as I would love to see it. I'd post some of mine when it shows up but there already some of the M-Fire up in the picture thread.

PS mine matches my spectralis 2.. heehee. Would love me some monome though.

Just talked to nova my voyager will be drop shipped in two weeks as moog has to build it. But on the cool side i asked nova if they could ask moog to do the flashing pitch and mod wheels while they where building it and where cool with it so that makes me even more excited. once again thanks all and will definitely post pics on arrival.
