update problem - are the instructions correct?
Instructions state the following:
Select the OS UPDATE from the window menu.
On the Little Phatty panel press MASTER button.
Scroll down to the SYSEX UTILITIES using the Value knob.
Press CURSOR button and select FW UPDATE.
Press CURSOR button again and change FW UPDATE: OFF to FW UPDATE: ON.
Under system utilities I do not have sysex utilities and under sysex menu I do not have utitlities either. Not only that but in the flow chart in the manual for menu items it is not listed!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My OS is 2.0.
Thanks in advance.

So, after messing around I finally got it to do something but not much and it ain't good. I now have a message in the LP window that says "SEND FIRMWARE SX CODE ERROR" and the LP won't do anything. Turning it off and and back on is no good - the error is in the window and the entire panel is unresponsive! No sound, just lights!

Patience and determination and a search etc. finally paid off.
I have a Stage LP, a Mac Pro, an 003 - nothing too weird. I had to use an old edirol midi interface and it had to be plugged into the back (not the front0 of my Mac with a driver update(!) and then the firmware upgrade worked, although NOTHING AT ALL LIKE THE INSTRUCTIONS! Sheesh, any more difficult and my romance for this thing would have been over.
Still trying to figure out the pitch wheel problem. . . .
Can't say I'm thrilled with this type of seemingly needless difficulty trying to do something so common as upgrade the OS.

It was never this difficult to do an upgrade until Moog required one to use the Soundtower editor to do the upgrade. Also, I have an M-Audio UNO with all the latest drivers, an Intel MacBook and Stage LP. After hours of fussing about with this equipment, I used a standard USB 2.0 cable to upgrade.billkahler wrote:Can't say I'm thrilled with this type of seemingly needless difficulty trying to do something so common as upgrade the OS.
