In response to some comments about the speed/ease of patch changing during live performance that have been made in the "hardware issues time for new voyager ?" thread I have added a couple of extra facilities to Phase 1 of my PC Librarian application.
Obviously this will only be of help to those that take their PC (laptop) on stage with them (doesn't everyone nowadays ?).
Although the Drag & Drop method (to move a patch from the 'Patch List' to the 'Panel Patch' area) can be performed relatively quickly I realise that this can still be too much to cope with in a performance environment.
To this end I have provided a facility to assign patches within the PC Patch List to each of the PC keyboard Function Keys F1 to F10. Once patches have been assigned in this way then the desired patch can be loaded to the Voyager with a single key press.
The second facility allows fast scrolling through the Voyager patches without having to touch the PC at all, although MIDI connection to the PC is still required.
Using the Voyager front panel 'External Input Level' control (I would have liked to use the Headphone Volume control but this does not send MIDI CC messages so I chose External Input Level as the next likely most least used control in a live performance situation) the user can quickly scroll up and down through the internal Voyager patches. One or two Up/Down button pushes may be needed to spot the required patch exactly.
These changes appear in the currently downloadable version and instructions for their use are in the notes (see original posting for web location).
I have also noticed that cycling quickly through "complementary" patches whilst playing the Voyager can produce some quite pleasing effects so I am possibly going to add a patch cycling facility to the application. This would operate on patches that are assigned to Function Keys and will ideally allow a degree of control over the speed at which the patches are cycled.
