patchbay for moogerfoogers

Post by impact studios » Thu Jul 09, 2009 8:23 pm

Hi

Okay im planning on connecting my Phaser and Ringmod to a balanced patchbay.
I was wondering if connecting them would cause a hard patch to ocour.

I played a continuous note into the Phaser and tried a jack plug into each socket RATE, AMOUNT, SWEEP, RESONANCE,SWEEP IN, LFO OUT and all the controls seemed to work normal even with a jack plug engaged...

I did the same with my Rindmod and found the only one to change the charater of the sound to be the CARRIER IN socket...

So am i right in thinking that all the sockets will be fine to connect to a patchbay (Except the Carrier in ) on the Ringmod...

The next moogerfooger i want to buy is the Freqbox, will that have any sockets that will have to be left off the patchbay.

Your findings are interesting to me. As for your question regarding the 107, I say run the same tests with that as you did with the 102 and 103. It works differently, in that plugging a TS cable into it while having a TRS plugged into it doesn't affect the TRS connections. So experimentation will be needed, unless someone else knows the answer. I too am interested in a patchbay for my 'Foogers, so this is great info! As long as the sound is unaffected, I'd not be worried about a hard patch occurring. Like you said, leave the jacks alone if the sound is affected. And remember which ones those are so that you can utilize them when needed. :)

You can keep Carrier In connected and just patch Carrier Out to it on the patch bay, if you like.

On the 103 keep in mind that Sweep In is only effective in 12-stage mode, and with a plug in this socket the LFO will be disconnected. You can normal the connection by patching the LFO Out like before.

Yeah, I will be patching baying my Moogerfooger rig up this week, I hope. I built case, similar too the one Amos posted awhile back, but based on 19 inch racks....
