Cinch connectors for the Minimoog Model D

Post by metatronix » Fri Jul 03, 2009 9:04 pm

Hi

I've been searching all over for these but some of them seem to be discontinued... Does anyone know where i can find the Cinch connectors used in the model D or know of a good replacement.

Thanks

Are you looking for coming into the mini or going out of the mini?
For a cinch cable going into the mini synthesizers.com sells a volt(1/4 trs plug) to s-trig(cinch) cable
As for going out of your moog, I too have been looking for one. I believe it was kevin lightener (sorry if spelled you name wrong) that told me a converter box would be needed to change s-trig to voltage. And I have not come across an s-trig male to s-trig female
My modular so far: Q104, Q106 x2, Q107, Q108, Q109 x2 , Q116, Q118, Q127 w/Q140, Q130, STG Wave Folder, Mixer and Mankato playing with Moog Voyager, VX-351, CP-251, MF-104M x2 ( STEREO!) Volca Beats and Bass, Arturia Beat step

How about this for converting:

And you get the S-trig jacks still at several places. Even female ones. But I am not sure about female sockets.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Thanks for the info.. sorry for not being clear.

I'm in the process of restoring my mini and I realized the Mod section Cinch connectors was the reason why my mod wheel wasn't working... It seems they have been the source of many problems in the past so i want to replace all of them.

I have been able to locate the 2-pin S-trig connectors, BUT i'm also looking for the 6-pin that connects the keyboard to the chasis and the 12 pin that connects the Pitch/Mod wheel to the chasis...

I was hoping to find them all at one store, but so far i haven't been able to.

Thanks for your help

Have you tried Mouser? All Spectrum carries an odd assortment of discontinued items as well. Or Surplusshed.com? :?

Those are available at Mouser.com...but they sure aren't cheap. If you need 'em, you need 'em, I always say when buying hard to find and expensive components.

Yeah, mouser sells Cinch, but they don't have all the connectors used in the minimoog... And yes i agree, they are expensive!

I just found a good selection at Allied Electronics...

http://www.alliedelec.com/Search/Search ... tk=Primary

They carry all of them except for the 12 pin, which is no longer available so I had to search for a replacement. It took me a while to figure out exactly which ones I need but I'm going to try the 15 pin, it's the same width as the original 12 pin, it's just a little bit longer, so it should line up with the screws, I just won't use the extra 3 pins. If it doesn't work perfectly, i'll let you guys know.

Thanks for helping out... I should be finished with the restoration soon so i'll post some pictures and let everyone know what i've learned from the experience :)

12 blade female here #(CNE) S312AB:

http://www.surplussales.com/ComputerAcc ... ect-2.html
Wasn't that long ago Mouser carried them all. Must be one of those RoHS isues? Look for series 300. I think the 15 blade is keyed diffrerently.
