I'm also a guitarist, not just keyboardplayer.
Earlier I bought a Line6 POD 2.0 for my guitar. Later I upgraded to a POD xt, which meant I had the POD 2.0 'free'.

So I started using the Line6 POD 2.0 together with my LP, and it is really great. Really! You have all the distortions, effects, echos, reverbs, but also the amplifier and cabinet simulators.

If you want an effect companion to you LP, check the second hand market for Line6 POD 2.0. Many people have upgrade to later versions and you should be able to get them for a reasonable price.

Hmmm why didn't I think of that.. And those amp simulation would be a plus, and can we really hear the difference between them on keyboards output? How's the distortion by the way?

The distortions (several) are great.
Also you have the drive and tone pots that works differently for every amp model.

Ok, I should have read this post before I went to the local music store and bought a "Big Muff" for my LP. They should call it "Big Moog Muffler". It makes my LP sound muffled as all hell. The fuzz that is barely audiable I can simulate by tweaking the oscillators on the LP and have it sound much better naturally. Well I'm heading back to the store with this thing this afternoon. I may try the RAT pedal as they had one used for $60.

Any thoughts?

My suggestion is try craigslist and look for used metal zone pedal, usualy they run from $25 depends on condition. It has wider tone and distortion range ( key word: metal :) ). Haven't try the rat, but I think it should be good. Just a cheaper suggestion. Good luck!
