Anyway for LP control Juno 60 Arp clock or vice versa?

Post by dmunz » Thu Jun 18, 2009 11:03 am

I have a LP and a Roland Juno 60. I'd like to sync their arp clocks. Is there anyway to do this without purchasing additional gear like a midi/dcb converter?

Also, anyone know of a solid hardware sequencer I'd be able to plug both synths into so I could simultaneously program separate arp patterns for each synth?

Thanks,

The Juno 60 has an Arpeggiator Clock input, so you're good there.
The LP only has a Keyboard Gate input, which will just trigger the envelopes.

(unless the recent OS update has added a function that will sync the Arpeggiator to the incoming gate signal?)

Still, even if the Keyboard Gate input on the LP could sync the Arp, you'd need some sort of LFO control voltage signal running to both inputs for it to work. Your best bet is to get a MIDI - DCB converter for the Juno.
Gear: Moog LP, Gibson LP, lots of FX

Sorry, I'm a newb at combining synths via MIDI. So suppose I get a MIDI - DCB converter for the Juno60... then how would I proceed to synch the LP & Juno60 arps?

I have both as well. I don't have the time to try this right now, but a word of advice: the midi implementation of the DCB interface is VERY limited. Unless you can get one for cheap, try before you buy if you can.

If you DO get them to work, that's awesome! Please PM me how you did it cause that WOULD certainly be cool!

good luck!

I have exactly the same, LP and Juno 60 .. at that time i bought the fair condition juno 60 for $500 including the JSQ60 and the MD-8 dcb-midi converter which i found it a great deal. I'm new also to midi stuffs, and I don't have the midi cable as for now, so I'll let you know by the time i try it. Best for you, good luck!
