new moog? or imposter?

Post by ColorForm2113 » Sun May 17, 2009 12:30 am

So on the DSI website under the news article titled "late show mopho", they mention a mystery moog on stage with the mopho. I only have access to web via my cellphone right now so I can't see the pics to well. Anyone possibly clear up the mystery?
Here's the link --->http://davesmithinstruments.com/news/in ... #late_show
Is there a new moog keyboard in the near future that are available to pros only now or is it just keyboard with a moog sticker on it?[/url]

I'm fairly sure that's just a Korg Karma.

There was a thread dedicated to this before...many hundreds of threads ago. The general consensus was that it was a Korg Karma with a Moog sticker on it. :)

Ok. Yeah I didn't think it was a moog. Definately not knoby enough, and I was pretty sure that was a sticker.

This pic did give me a dream last night of a moogerfooger keyboard controller. Basically it was a voyager size keboard with no vcos or filters, just envelopes, triggers and cv ins and outs and two vcas (basically all the things that have been brought up for the next control processor) so you could combine your foogers , or perhaps mmvrme, into a modular unit.

I contacted one of the guys in the band...

This is what he said: "I didn't expect the Moog sticker to create such a stir. It's kinda an inside joke with myself. I use a Korg Triton for Super Diamond because it's versatile for that type of music. I don't love the sounds, but it makes the most sense as an all-in-one synth. I can't bring a bunch of gear on the road. I'm a vintage synth collector and most of my cool stuff is too rare and nice to travel with. A few days before Letterman, I covered a Triton with wood grained contact paper and slapped a Moog sticker on it. I brought the DSI MoPo out mostly for product placement. They're great people and I wanted to give them a plug. I wanted to bring the Prophet'08, but it was only one song, and didn't really want to fly with it. I also have a Moog endorsement and sent them a photo as a joke. Thanks for noticing. Good luck on the magazine. J"

This was also a thread I posted in at VSE.
