I Want to Buy a Voyager

Post by Jamz » Tue Sep 28, 2004 6:35 pm

I'm considering purchasing a Voyager Performer model. Does anyone
have any suggestions on who would be the best dealer to buy from?
None of the local music stores seems to stock one, so I have been
unable to try one out. Those units must be a bit too expensive to
have laying around in the store.

I got mine from Musician's Friend. It's another Wal-Mart for instruments, but it arrived promptly. Note also that they have a credit card deal, no interest for a year -- evil -- be careful!!

Not sure if you want to drive a bit, but Sweetwater in Ft. Wayne, Indiana is my favorite place. It's not really a store, they mostly do catalog orders here, but you can make an appointment to stop in and check out whatever toys you want. I took my old minimoog up there to compare with a voyager before I bought it. Great selection and excellent customer service (although the sales staff is hungry and will probably try to upsell you). I make all my big purchases there!

I got my MMV from Sweetwater also. They only ship to verified addresses. They are an excellent company and should have the MMV Performer in stock. Musician's Friend is a great company too. There's also Big City Music in Los Angeles if you want to go for the rare MMV's.

My MMV Anniversary came from Humbucker Music. They also deal in special wood voyagers like cherry and walnut, but I had to get the backlit version! :) Jake is the owner and has always been very honest and helpful. He's a synth nut too.

I got mine from a dude on ebay, it was brand new and he contacted me by phone to make sure that it was really me ordering it, not some fraudulent person posing as me. And he shipped it to my house for free, and it arrived intact. He still sells them there too, with a buy it now.

Im actually thinking of possibly selling mine, i'll even throw in the cv expander if you want. Its basically still new, and sounds and functions really good, except it has this issue with something inside, im not sure exactly what. All Voyagers before a certain serial # have it. It costs $100 plus shipping to Moog, they pay to ship it back. I havent done it yet partly because of laziness/partly because i might sell it. It would probably be beneficial to get the upgrade though. (I also have to fix my sidtation, but again im lazy :) so if your interested, ill give you a good price.

Or I might keep the damn thing cuz its so damn cool to play with. Anyways...let me know, if this interests you and we can communicate via email off list.
