PLEASE HELP

Post by conanliquid » Sat Oct 16, 2004 1:23 pm

I have just got my Voyager and want to update from 2.1 to 2.5 and also try some other pre-sets out.I have downloaded all the relevant software from Moog(2.5 and some pre-sets).I have unzipped the files as instructed.I have Windows XP on my PC and everything is up to date.I have Creative Audigy soundcard which has a MIDI in and out.I have downloaded and installed MIDI-OX.I have done everything I am instructed to do.I open MIDI OX and try and send the relevant Sysex files after activating the Voyager. When I try and send the the file it comes up with this message on my computer:

SysEx Output Devices: The port is transmitting the data to the device.Wait until the data has been transmitted, and then try again.

There is no change on the Voyager screen when all this is occurring. It just says its waiting for the files.
Its driving me mad.Can anyone help.

I don't have that soundcard nor do I use MIDI-OX (I'm on a Mac) but I'll try to help.

I'm assuming on the Voyager you went into Master Mode and selected Receive Update. Midi cables are connected from your card to the Voyager (I know that sounds dumb...but sometimes you never know). In MIDI-OX can you select a port to transmit the data? It should be port 1 since your soundcard only has one I believe. Check out that, and also check at what speed MIDI-OX is transmitting the data (maybe it's too fast? try 250msec or so if you can select this option). Let me know.

Go back into Master Mode...under Midi In, is it selected to "Yes"? I have both Midi In/Out in Master mode ready to send/receive at all times. This could be it. If it is selected to Yes, then it could be the SoundCard. Proper Drivers installed, etc. Just trying to narrow it down. That's the only other thing I can think of. Let me know how it goes this time.

Thanks for your help. There is still nothing happening. But I think there is a problem with my soundcard.I am not 100% that it is sending and receiving thru the MIDI port.It could even be the MIDI cable so I am gonna try a few different things. If not, when I take my Moog to my studio I think I can update with my MPC4000.I am sure that can send and receive SysEx.
I will let you know the outcome.

I have had exactly he same problem and the same message. I gave up until I finally tried again. Guess what? Even though the Voyager simply sat and waited (or appeared to) it actually did upload. I had just been assuming that it had not. Is your midi light signalling the flow of data when you do this? If so the data is getting through. Initially I found that i didn't have the midi in/out set to on, but I still get that same message from Midi-Ox...However, it does up load. Go to panel and check your sounds closely to see.
