has anyone with a lp te upgraded to os 1.4 with an intel mac

Post by gazer » Sat Mar 21, 2009 5:26 pm

Hi,
Im running mac os 10.5.6 on a macbook pro and i want to upgrade my lp to the new stripped down os 1.4t with the noise fix. I ran across some horror stories about problems doing this with the newer intel macs running mac os 10.5, on the forum. I normally use sysex librarian for this, bit I have not used it in a while. So mac people with tribute edition lp's. Can i use sysex librarian or should I use the free version of sound tower?
Who has had success and how did you do it?
My goal is to not have to send my lp to Moog for the time being. Low cash flow. I'm thinking about getting into heroin sales so I should be set soon. I hear it's a lucrative field with amazing growth potential. (I'm joking about the heroin don't flame me. I'm not a heroin spam bot either, but not a bad idea for the tech savvy heroin dealer if I do say so myself)
Thanks,
Gazer

My setup: MacBook 1.1 (summer 2006) with OSX 10.4, Korg PadKontrol, LP Tribute and free version of sound tower (send firmware menu option).
No trouble at all. Easy and smooth. But I had to configure the sound tower editor to send the data to the correct MIDI port, which took me about 2 minutes only.
Anyway, good luck!

Yep, did it using sysex librarian on an Intel Mac running 10.5.6. Worked like a charm.

I completely agree :)

(But it would be more awesome if there would be a second scheme color for the LP Stage II with fully compatible boards with the Tribute.)

(I'm thinking about 2 voice polyphonic phatty.)

The new os has seemed to fix the tuning problem I was having too. I loaded my saved patches and they were all out of tune, kind of a bummer but a minor price to pay to have both oscillators in tune with each other now. The stock presets don't sound half bad now. I can turn the knob and each patch sounds right without adjusting oscillator 2's frequency. I am so stoked on my little phatty now and am even excited to reprogram my patches . I truly have patch memory now. Big shout out to Amos. It amazes me how much he gets done. Dedication is what it's called. If more people gave a bleep about what they did in this world we would all be better off. I'm not just blowing smoke up his and Moog's ass either just because they finally fixed the tribute.
It's more why they fixed the tribute. I believe it was more that they new it was the right thing to do and they did it. Not so much because a few of us whined alot on these forums no one hardly reads. In the end I imagine They may have even lost money on the 1200 of us that bought tributes, maybe not. I for one am glad I waited for a fix and didn't sell my tribute.
I'm not saying i didn't have my time of doubts and for that I'm sorry. In the end Moog took care of us. It's nice to have a company you can trust. In tough economic times it's important that the company's that make the instruments that let us create music(which is food for the soul)stay around. So as soon as I can get enough money together I'm still getting a future retro xs, but after that i'm buying a voyager even if It's the same time the Linn drum 2 comes out.

Thank you, gazer!

I recommend the XS (again; like I always do :) ) - it sounds so good next to the Phatty...

I worry that by the time the LinnDrum II comes out, it will be the size of a refrigerator and replace your entire studio!

I want that! It sounds like it'll be awesome! But they've been developing it FOREVER!

Could somebody please e-mail me the link of the 1.04T software version for
the Tribute, which seems to be released? I e-mailed Moog about it a few
days ago, but still got no reply (they must be quite busy :-)).

Cheers,

Rudelius
