What do you think about this one, the MXR Carbon Copy m-169?
Or maybe the Electro Harmonix Memory man...
I use the carbon copy with the LP II, but be carefully, the LP-outputsignal seems to be too strong to the carbon-copy input. You can week the signal with a potentiometer.
For more modulation, you can simply modificate it:

It sounds great with extremly low noise.

But, well, the price tag... I'm not that much into effects to lay down that amount of money
(Instead I bought a Small Clone on ebay, which is also very good with a nice Moog lead)
The Memory Man is a little expensive but there are lots of deals going on these days - every week I get coupons in the mail from Sam Ash or Guitar Center. $50 off $150 or more - stuff like that. Not to mention you can always bicker about the price of musical gear. If it's $329 offer them $300 and you might be surprised

the deluxe memory man is more expensive than the stereo memory man with hazarai.
they are both very different beasts and both interesting. if you find the deluxe too expensive, check the stereo.

If you want a cheap solution to this I've been using the Digitech Digidelay's analog modeling setting on my LP S II and it sounds great.
http://www.digitech.com/products/pedals/DigiDelay.php I've had mine for about four years and love it. Also the Boss DD-20 is nice, but the advantage of the digitech is it takes a mono in and sends a stereo out if you like. Very useful. There is also a nice backwards delay if you are so inclined.

Thanks a lot for your advices. I think i will go for an Electro Harmonix, and why not the "hazarai". Very interesting, thanks

I just bought a #1 Echo. It's the Digital Delay from EHX. Quite happy with it so far. Just got it for the heck of it.

Hello,
I just got my new LP four days ago with the boss re-20 space echo twin pedal. It's just awsome how these two are getting along well together!!! The great thing about it is that the re-20 has the magnifiscent echo emulted from the old Roland re-201 tape echo, but it has also a stereo reverb wich is cool since the LP is mono. You get a very beautiful spacialization of your sound.
Good luck

I still need to get a replacement tape for my Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo... the chorus and reverb sound really nice, but I bet the LP thru the actual multi-head tape delay will be phenomenal!

It's crazy, I'm spending 15 hours/day since monday turning knobs, editing new sounds!!! My girlfriend is getting worried for me
You should really try it out with the re-20, it's kind of finfing the sound you were looking for for a long time.
Waouw, thanks guys

I've been curious about this RE-20
If you have any LP/RE-20 sound clips to share, go ahead!

I’m actually thinking about parting with my RE-20. I think for the price you could get better digital delays (or a host of analog) and I question how accurately it sounds like a real re-201. I don’t have a tape echo but I do have and have had multiple analog BBD delays and digital delays. I spent a good part of yesterday playing with a micromoog switching between an Ibanez UE-405 (has analog delay), Alesis Ineko (digital multi with delay) and the RE-20. To be honest I’m just not that excited by the RE-20. The Ibanez has a BBD delay that is just rich, buttery and full of character. The UE-405 also has analog compression, chorus and EQ for around $200 (used of course, it’s vintage). The Ineko delays are decent clear digital delays plus you get a whole host of other effects from delay to reverb to filters to decimation and on and on (but only 1 at a time), it’s stereo and can be had for around $100. The RE-20 on the other hand has more “character” on the delay than the ineko but less than the Ibanez, it’s not particularly rich or buttery it just sounds kinda muted digital to me. The analog memory man (not harazi), which I’ve also had has a great thick sound but it is also very colored, so you have to be careful that it doesn’t take over your sound.
my vote:

I have both a vintage RE-201 and the new RE-20, and once I sat down and made a recording of both at the same time - the first clip is both together, then each separately. The synth is an MFB Synth Lite II.
both RE-201 & RE-20
just RE-201 (tape echo)
just RE-20 (digital model)
The RE-201 is warmer, but the longest possible delay setting is not all that long. Also, it colors the sound a lot - not necessarily a bad thing. The RE-20 can give much longer delay times. I don't really like the feedback on the RE-20 - it has a nasty digital distortion kind of sound in this clip - though I found that with a compressor afterwards it sounded fine. I would need to do more experimenting before I came up with a final verdict.
My plan was to use the vintage one for recording and have the digital one for live. It is defintiely much easier to lug the RE-20 around!

I personally prefer the RE-201 sound, as well, from what I could hear in these clips. Nice demo!

Wow, the 201 sounds a lot better. Isn't the new Space Echo just a typical digital delay w/ a new paint job, so to speak?
