What's up everybody, this is E52BEATS....E for short and I'm a hip hop producer from New York City. After years of sampling records recreating Moog baselines in my production I caught a light bulb moment while watching MOOG on cable. I said to myself I should just buy one LOL. J Dilla was the only producer doing hip hop that I know that used one. I did a lot of reading and talking to engineers and they all said the same thing.... "You can't go wrong with a MOOG" I also heard that the LP was a synth that Bob actually designed so that's also a plus for me. I see a lot of people complain about volume placement, but I never used synths so it doesn't matter to me where the knobs are being that I'm new to the synth world. Anyway, here's a few pics of my LP which I LOVE TO DEATH..... I don't even know how I made it this far without one HAHAHA

Helluw and welcome to the Moog forums E52BEATS...

You can't go wrong with a LP in your setup for HipHop productions.
I've used for years a SE ATC-1 in my setup for creating HipHop basslines....but since about a year everything is done on a Voyager and i never looked back.

It looks like an early AKAI something-or-other with some type of memory card slot and 3.5" floppy drive. An old sound module, perhaps?

I love the synth in the old school west coast rap, even though alot of it was borrowed from Pfunk. Easy-E UGK...I was rapping the entire beastie Boys Licene to Ill when I was in kindergarden lolol.

My partner tried to do some hip hop sounding stuff but by the time I was elbow deep in synth in those tracks they didn't sound like hip hop anymore.

I really dig the hell out of some hip hop! I also forgot to welcome you to the forums.

Yeah, you stary buying Moog gear you get on a really slippery slope wanting them all. But youll be alright though especially with DJ David Banner!

He did the Voyager, five of the 'Foogers, the LP, the Minimoog D, the modulars, etc.

Welcome to the forums and to the world of Moog E52BEATS. I use my Moog on everything from R&B to jazz to funk, hip hop, and drum and bass. You're going to love what the Moog will do for you more and more as time goes on.

Most hip hop producers have used or sampled Moog gear at some point in their life... even if it's a b-line from an old record.

Fredwreck has a Voyager, wich is what Dilla had too. Dilla's mom said in an interview that Jay felt a real strong connection to Bob. They passed away not too far apart from each other.

RIP Bob and Dilla!
