LFO on Delay Time

Friends,
I tried hooking up my cp251 to the delay to modulate the time with an lfo.

Should this be attenuated? I remember reading about people using various pedals to exceed the limits of the long and short delay times. Can the Cp251 do this and is it a good thing?

THe reason why I asked is because I got some wierd effects with the Triangle out to the Time IN and I was wondering if pot placement will risk damaging the unit. (Wierd effects don't normally make me wonder if theres a problem lol)

I'm no expert but I don't think you're in any danger, since all the Moog stuff is +- 5v and are designed to be completely interfaceable with each other.

Also I don't think you would be able to really surpuss the ~1000ms of delay just because it appears to be the limit of the BBD chip, for better or worse.

Lastly, the tri-wave was probably doing unexepectedly wierd sh.. just because the default LFO range sweep is pretty extreme. Attenuation would probably make it quite a bit easier for you to reel in and do what you want with it.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it. You really can't go wrong using Moog to Moog. Isn't weird effects what we spend thousands of dollars for?

Yeah I just put some atenuation on there and it was cool but I was starting to really wonder.

It was doing some wierd things that made me think it was not proper.

I was just trying to get a chorus effect but it was stopping altogether and clicking and I was thinking "Hmmmm this can't be good"

To get a chorus like effect with the 104 you need just a small amount of sine wave modulation, what is coming directly from the CP251 is to much. Take the sine wave out form the LFO and put it in one of the attenuators. Set the LFO rate just above .02 (almost fully counter clockwise) set the Attn level just slightly above 0. Take the Attn. out to the delay time in on the 104, set the delay time around 1. Set the Mix around 4 set time for short. For a little more “funkyness” turn the feedback up a notch or two. Works great with Rhodes sounds. If you want even more fun, put the Phase shifter in the delay loop. It only takes small amounts for it to work. Try using the Lag Processor or mixer section for some other mild to wild chorus effects. But if you want just basic chorus use the lfo to the att to the delay time in and only use very small amounts.

Nice sounding video! Liked the coloration there. Nothing like Rhodes and a Clavi!
I wanted to lay down some slap bass over that and get to groovin lolol.
