new Voyager CD
mars musings ...
Todd Barton had the original idea of creating a one minute daily music composition, a "Moog Musing", using a Moog Voyager as the exclusive sound generator. Edmund Eagan responded with the idea of tying each "muse" to a current Mars image and text from the NASA/JPL site. Near the end of February Edmund started to create video manipulations of the daily images up until the final musing of May 14, 2004.
The mars musings project ran online every day from January 25 to May 14th, 2004.

Todd,
don't be sorry.
i think there are more people on this forum that are interested than not.
this is a very moog specific topic. and is appropriate.
sir_diss,
i might point out that it was moogmusic.com that promoted the Moog Musing project by hyper link to begin with.you could have easily avoided irritation by reading the title of this thread and disregarding it.i think it is unfair to forbid an avid mooger from promoting his music on this forum.i suppose that because he isn't distributing through a major chain store it means that is music is invalid? and by that same token if he isn't being distributed by a major label or distributor,he must use other devices to promote his music.
you have to start somewhere.
keep it up Todd

I'm gonna have to stand up for the MoogMusings folks, too. Me, I'm interested in any Moog music, be it Dana Countryman, Moog Cookbook, or MoogMusings.
I think that these fora are an ideal place to communicate good music. And if we can't even tell each other about our 100% Moog creations, then where, pray tell, can we talk about such stuff?
Now, if I could only find the CD drive on my Voyager. Is this an available factory update?

Mars musings was really cool. I followed the site daily until it's end. But I understand sir_dss point. This is supposed to be a help forum. It would be better if moog created a misc. forum for people to chat about general stuff. Ditch the Moog out on the Town or change it. People can post concerts/recordings in a misc. forum.
SirDSS,
Has anyone ever told you that you're a jerk?
Personally, I'm glad that Todd Barton told us about his Mars Musings
CD is for sale. Do you know of any other MiniMoog Voyager CD?
I didn't think so.
This IS a MiniMoog Voyager forum. Todd's post was totally on topic,
and it didn't sound like he was trying to get everyone to buy his CD.
He was just letting everyone know that it's now available.
Your response to Todd's posting was rude, and served no purpose other
than to let you vent. I think you need to take a few deep breaths
before you decide to post your rants to this group.

Yeah...but how many times do we have to hear that Mars Musings is for sale? I would say once is enough. This is at least the third time it's been pushed on us.
And I don't think having a recording in Tower, Virgin or whatever makes someones artwork valid or not. If it's good it will be discovered and remembered. I agree that perhaps this forum needs some sort of other Misc. section that I'll never need to click on and read about someone lame show or CD.
I don't mind being called a jerk so don't ask me what I really think of the Mars Moog Musings. The concept, composition, end result.
Chit...Fugazi sell CD's for less than $10 too.

Some people here possibly don't subscribe to the YAHOO MMV related groups so they won't be able to pick up all of the "wisdom" available from that source immediately.
A number of people that have purchased a Voyager are 'new' to analogue synthesis, and therefore can be considered "newbies" (gawd forbid) in all manner of queries regarding techniques, analoge synthesis, interfacing, etc.
Some here seem to come across a bit too harsh on these people. Tell them what you know.....You're probably too set in your ways to come up with anything really creative so help give life to new blood - it's the best you can hope for if you want some form of legacy in this field.
Less 'chat' - more creativity.
