You might want to consider the dust cover or the gig bag.

THe gigbag is actually nice, it is setup where you don't have to take it out of the bag, you just unzip it and open the flap, setup the panel and play, then close the flap and carry it away.

I leave mine on the stand all the time and drape a sheet over it. I have a 2 tier stand with the voyager and the Micro on top and sometimes the theremin rises above that, so I have to drape a sheet over them and that still gets dusty from time to time.

I have the Moog Cookbook! I found it on ebay lol.

If yours is an old Voyager then you might have to get a hardware upgrade to expand to 7 banks of 128, and a second upgrade to give you the aftertouch I think.

You really should get a TRS cable so you can take advantage of the effects loop and you might also want to get the Voyager training DVD so you can understand what some of those knobs are for.

I could live without the lamp. I have the Select series and I never use the backlit panel unless I just want to feel spacey. I want to conserve that puppy.

THe EP2 will definately come in handy although what you really need is the vx351.

Youll be really happy with your purchase. DO you get the free cp251 deal too.

Hey EricK, i don't think i will het the 3.x upgrade because i will never use 128 presets let alone 800ish, i was going to get a OS but i did want the touch surface. but maybe in future i will use them.
Aftertouch what is it .. exactly i don't really understand

Basically I try to advise people to think about the future. You may never need the 800 presets but when you get to creating sounds you just might find yourself a year from now wishing you had gotten the hardware mod.

Aftertouch is basically a variable voltage that is generated after the initial keyboard voltage. Im sure theres a better way to explain it but you have velocity and aftertouch.

In the modulation section of the Voyager youll see a source, a destination and a shaping knob. Lets say you are sending a triangle wave to the filter. Well when you touch the key you send the voltage from the keyboard (specified by the amount pot) that sweeps the filter based on the LFO speed. Then you press the key a little harder, AFTERTOUCH boosts the level of voltage sent to the filter in this patch. So they key has a threshhold that is a variable voltage based on how hard you are pressing down on the keybed. This occurs AFTER you push the key down when you give it a little extra push downwards.

You can really use aftertouch in ways just like you would use the Mod wheel to embelish certian notes depending on how you have the patch set up.

Velocity works the same way except it is a variable voltage generated based on how fast you are pressing the key down.

Both of these just make more interesting ways to express yourself.
CHeck the manual for a less rambling description.

Watch this video and see how this cat uses aftertouch to modulate the pitch.

I voted for the pedal. The new MP-201 Multi-Pedal would be another option. But a simple pedal added to the Voyager adds expression.
I use Aftertouch for several things. Sometimes to add vibrato when there is no free hand available for using the mod wheel.

And I use the Rudi Linhard version of the aftertouch fix. I had the original Voyagers more on/off like first. Then I bought the aftertouch fix together with the multiple bank field upgrade. Better, but not that good as on other synths using the very same Fatar keyboard action. Rudi's version gives you all the desired range and scaleable amount. No you can use aftertouch for smooth introduction of modulation. Or even pitchbend.

A pedal is nice to change the volume. With the new MP-201 Multi-Pedal you could define a range from min to max volume without caring to move the pedal in the sweet spot. Recommended for live players and expressive players that don't use their computer mouse to change parameters in their Voyager tracks.

I voted for the VX-351 as I feel it truly completes the Voyager.

I voted for the breakout box, also. This is essential if you're playing other modular gear, and is quite keen even if you just have a V'ger. If I could vote for 2, I'd vote for the lamp. Great on a dark stage, especially if you don't have a backlit model! As it is, the gigbag and lamp came supplied with my Signature Edition...

I like the VX351. I think it really opens up the Voyager for tweaking. Of course I have both the CP251 and the VX351, but I find myself going first to the VX351. It's inevitable that if you get either, you will eventually end up with both.

This Is all good advice that's why I came to this forum. I have organized a lamp via eBay, gf is making me a dust cover, the gig bag will house my source till I get another hard case sorted to house either/both.
I will get the aftertouch it seems awesome!
I will try to get the free cp251 and I will buy the 351 after Xmas when I have money again!
I just watched the sonic infinity DVD WOW it makes me understand my moogerfoogers better! But the recording volume of the mix posses me off! Get a lapel mic!!
Well now is the waiting game for it to arrive ... Hopefully this week!
The worst part is it's getting delivered to work which means I'll have a whole day staring at a box I can't play!

Ryanih, you will only need this after touch update, if you got an early version of the Voyager (pre October 2005 if I recall it right). All Voyagers got after touch build in. But the response curve of the early ones were more on off like and was not suited well for introducing modulation that way.

You might can ask what OS it has installed on it or get the actual serial number off of it and then reinquire here.
