OS 2.3 for Voyager now available
Hello Voyager owners,
We have uploaded a new version of software for the Voyager - OS 2.3.
It is available on the normal Software download page for the Voyagers:
http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?pro ... &x=36&y=13
or
http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?pro ... 0&x=18&y=8
It's a zipped folder with both SysEx files and Standard MIDI files, along w/ an instruction sheet and SysEx chart. We recommend upgrading from OS 2.1. There are detailed instructions in the OS2.1 folder for upgrading from older versions of software.
The main function of this update is to add recognition of MIDI SysEx Dump Request messages, for use with the upcoming Voyager Editor/Librarian.
Enjoy!

Has anyone loaded the new OS? I've read of problems with people locking up their Voyager when trying to upgrade to OS 2.1.
I would like to install the new OS, but I'd rather wait until some more experienced users install the new OS to see if there are complications/work arounds necessary to get the install to work.
If anyone has gotten the new OS loaded, please let everyone know how it went.
Thanks!

Dear Music, thanks for another upgrade to the great Voyager synthesizer.
This is a great synth, but I feel there's still a couple of things left that could need some tweaking, and improving those would make the synth considerably more practical and better to use.
I would (and many others I'm sure) be very grateful if you could take this into consideration, and improve on the following issues.
1: Include a (master) octave up/down function. Preferably using the cursor button to go into "octave switch" mode, and then use the +/- buttons for octave up/down.
2:Make it possible to use the headphone volume knob as a patch selector going from 0-127. This would make it much quicker to change between patches that are far away from eachother in number (say from 20 to 100). Instead of spending 10 seconds going from patch 1 to 100, one could get there in one second. That's a big improvement in a live situation...
3: Please make a solution available for upgrading the voyager filter to track the portamento. This was a intergral part of the original minimoog's sound, which would improve the sound of the Voyager drastically. This should really have been there in the first place on a $3000-4000 (regarding where one lives) monophonic synth.
Sorry for "hijacking" he thread. I hope MoogMusic reads this and take these tips into consideration. The Voyager is an amazing piece of equipment, and the OS has come a long way now. If these three things could be fixed, I would consider the Voyager more or less perfect, and in no need of further updates.
Thanks for reading.

not off track.
<soapbox = on> Firstly, I understand others concerns with issues not addressed. Having said that, I want to say that I whole heartedly look forward to the upcoming patch editor and would like to thank and congratulate those at Moog for continuing to offer the kind of after market services that make me even prouder to own this amazing synthesizer. All my friends were as jealous as a person could be by my owning this thing when I first got it with OS 1, bugs and all. Its come a LONG way from there, and I have every reason to keep faith it will continue to do so.
I've owned many, many analogue synths and between this and my Andromeda, it seems we are truely in the new golden age of analogue synthesis; where the logical progression of digital and analogue have made an (upgradeably) perfect harmony. Thanks also too to those whose insightful and well reasoned requests have helped to guide Moogs team in the development of the project.
Thanks again from 1 very proud MMV owner.
Kelly.

the altered MASTER Functions menue #3.2 offers the possibility to send single sounds SysEx dumps. Fine!
But I think it would better to tell people in the new OS 2.3 PDF about the way to dump all sound as a single dump for easy backup as before OS 2.3:
Just go above preset number 128 or below number 1. Then you will see "all Preset Sounds" where "Preset No. 128" (or ""Preset No. 1" used to be before scrolling there.
But I am missing the scrolling while holding the + or - buttons in this menu item. clicking more then 50 times is rather anoying. And the normal mode of preset selection does offer this method of scrolling. So why isn't it featured here?
Anyway, I like the possibility of the request dumps. Makes SysEx remote backups much easier.
But wait: why is the SysEx ID range from 1-128 where all other synths in my collection here offer 0-127? Is this just an offset in the numbering? What are the global manufactor MIDI specs rules tell about this?

Hi rev32,
as one can read at http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?pro ... 0&x=49&y=8
"VGR OS 2.4 Is a minor upgrade - fixing a bug in the Send Panel Sound function. Only Bank A and C are changed - if you are upgrading from 2.3, you do not have to upgrade Bank B. This zipped folder includes the Bank A, B, and C files in SysEx and Standard MIDI format - as well as the upgrade notes and SysEx format."
That means in your case you, that you have to send all 3 bank files to your MMV (as there isn't v 2.3 installed until now). Please read the included document "os 2-4 notes.pdf" to get detailed instructions for updating the MMV, especially concerning the order of banks to be loaded ...
