LP LFO in MIDI Sync

Post by quicksnap » Mon Sep 22, 2008 2:56 am

When I switch the LP to sync with my MIDI sequencer, it disables the LFO frequency knob and relies on the MIDI clock multiplier ( 1/4 1/8T etc.). Would it be a feasible feature in the next OS release to have that disabled knob adjust that multiplier instead of doing nothing? I find myself stuck in advanced preset mode while that knob is being lazy.

Is this even the right place to go for that sort of request?

Hi quicksnap;

That sounds like a very reasonable feature request, and this is the right place to ask. I will put it on the request list!

Kind regards,

Thanks so much!

Also, it may be useful if a MIDI CC could control the the LFO (if it can't already--haven't gotten time to check out the CC values) and if, when LFO control is switched to the multiplier mode, the CC could adjust that multiplier as well.

Hope I'm being clear and not too overbearing! Still love the LP. Thanks for being so responsive. Sure as heck didn't get that sort of reply with Propellerhead Reason =)

Good suggestion, Quicksnap... yes you can already adjust the LFO rate (provided it's not set to MIDI clock sync) using MIDI CC# 3.

This is useful in another subtle way... namely, if the arpeggiator is set to internal clock and the arp is running, then the "LFO Rate" panel control gets used to adjust the arpeggiator clock BPM. This means that even though the LFO is still running on its own internal clock, you can't tweak the LFO rate from the panel at the same time the arpeggiator is running. We had to compromise in this way so as to allow panel control of the arp.
Anyway, in this situation you can still tweak the LFO rate while the arp is running by sending CC#3 to the LP. Also, you can use Pot Mapping to assign another panel control (EGR knob, for instance) to control LFO Rate.

Nifty, eh?

If we make it so that the LFO Rate control on the panel adjusts the LFO clock sync divisions when the LFO is synced to MIDI, then it would automatically be the case that MIDI CC#3 would cause the same adjustment to the clock divisions. Very cool stuff.

Cheers,

Amos
