Pain while playing / Stretches before you play

Post by voodoochilimoog » Fri Sep 19, 2008 2:16 am

Hey everyone. I've been developing some burning pain in my forearm while playing keys over the last week or two. I gave it a few days to heal but it's still bothering me.

Do you guys have a set of stretches you do before/while you play?

I'm going to let my pain go away, do some forearm strength training for a week, then get back to it. I've learned that playing through the pain ONLY makes things worse.

Let me know what you do for physical pain whilst playing

Regards,

Sky

First of all, prevention is key. Always play using good posture, and keep your arms level with the keyboard. If you play while standing, set your keyboard stand on a couple two by fours to raise the keyboard to arm height, or use a taller stand. For extensive playing, try windmill exercises and toe touches for a couple minutes after each half hour of playing. Hope you feel better!
