Voyager back light fault

today i switched my voyager electric blue v.3 on after a week and a half of not playing it, and the backlights are permanently stuck on even though the control is set to off, it was working fine last time i used it and i never switch the lights on anyway...
does anyone have any ideas?

Hey! Exact same thing here, just that I didnt use it for about 2 days only. How did you manage to solve the problem?

Sorry dude, the problem i had was that the actual dimmer switch unit was faulty, i took it to a service center but the couldn't fix it because the whole unit is mounted in a resin so they couldn't get to it. They ended up buying a new part for $200 from moog. I don't think there is a cheap solution im afraid.

Oh man that sucks... I have an additional problem, I live in Costa Rica, and Im almost sure there are only 2 Voyagers, one in rack version and my EBV. There is no Moog official service center here and sending it somewhere else (country) will be very expensive. Do you think I can actually buy the parts from Moog Music and have whatever technician install it?

I will also try to get in contact with a service person from Moog, but I will still like to know what you think about this, or what you suggest.

I took mine to a qualified electrical engineer, but he wasn't moog registered. It took him about a month to get hold of moog to source the part. so i guess you could do the same.

or you could email techsupport[at]moogmusic.com directly... it might be faster. A faulty dimmer is cheaper to replace on newer Voyagers with "Quiet II" backlighting technology, as in this case the dimmer pot is not mounted in epoxy but can be replaced by itself. SUMMA_RIOT, sorry for the inconvenience in your case! It's true, the only replacement for the original style backlight dimmer is to replace the entire dimmer/backlught power supply module at one go.

Hi thanks! I already send an email and I was told to check some ground connections for each panel and the cables inverter which they described as a black box, but I wasnt able to locate them cause Im really ignorant on this electronics matter. I did checked on the connections that were visible and seemed to be fine.
I already sent a reply and Im waiting for an answer.

Im afraid that if I need to replace something Ill need to replace the whole thing because I bought it used and its serial number is EB0067, which I assume is part of the first ones.

Just to describe a bit better the current problem, everytime I turn on the power after several hours of being off, the backlight is at full power but the knob is in the off position. Within the next 10 -15 minutes it becomes dimmer till it gets to normal functioning.
For some weird reason it seems like it needs to warm up for the light to work properly, but of course it doesnt make sense.

Everything else is working perfectly. Shall I disconnect the backlight if I dont find to way to fix it soon? How can I do this?

It's cool about the back light! i was just gutted because my beloved moog wasn't working 100% and it was only a week out of warrenty.lol

As you are new to the world of moog, welcome to the fold. you will never want to use a digital synth again! I recomend trying to get hold of a classic moog or two. Try the Moog prodigy, i love that bad boy.
