Half a MuRF

Post by DeFrag » Wed Jun 18, 2008 4:17 pm

My MF-105 MuRF is really noisy when not engaged.

Additionally, when I disengage it, I get a rush of extreme noise that settles out in 4 or 5 seconds to a general background noise thats still prominent & then I get no right channel output at all.

I suppose its obvious to say I need to send it to Moog for repair, eh?

What might they charge to fix it, assuming its out of warranty?

TIA

Not directly related to the question but...

I got my MuRF when they first came out and I noticed that they used plastic parts for the jacks. I was changing cords as I usually do with my foogers and pop! GRRRRR!!!!!

Are they still making them with plastic rather than metal?

i've been experiencing the same problems as DeFrag. less noise issues--but i'm having output issues. for me it's intermittent, but only half the filters work in mono/L output. it works fine in stereo.

Yes, mine is new and it's plastic, all of my foogers are. I'm pretty sure that if they used switchcraft jacks that would cause grounding issues, and a larger box too...

DeFrag, yes I would send it in, sounds like a short...

Hiwatt Bob, I'm guessing that if it is intermitent the right channel output contact could be contaminated. When you use it in stereo it shorts half of the filters to the right and the others to the left, as I'm sure you are aware. It sounds like yours sometimes thinks it's in stereo, when it's not. Always safe to send it in to moog if you aren't electronics savvy.
Vibration emanates from all things, even nothing. Using awareness to translate vibration into "music" is something that I am whole heartedly grateful for.

This may not relate to your problem, but the right output is only active when the pedal is engaged, right? I.e. when bypassed, the dry signal will only come out of the left output.
