Daniel -- Strictly speaking, there is no time signature in the arp, just a series of pulses at a particular speed. If you think about it, a repeating three-note pattern could appear in any time signature at all (could be 6/8, or 12/8, or a pattern in 4/4 that takes 3 bars to re-align with the bar line, and so on). The time signature will be defined by the overall musical context you create, and is not directly implicit in any arp pattern, although some arp patterns line up with some time signatures better than others.

Having said that, you're right that adding or dropping one note at a time is guaranteed to create complex relationships between your arp pattern and whatever time signature you are playing it over.

Hey there!

Two things; first, this update should make the LP respond a little quicker on patch changes. Second, what you're describing sounds like it's the "analog mode" setting, which affects how the knobs respond when they are physically in a different position than the preset value. It sounds like you've never experimented with this, but there are three modes available. The default mode is called TRACK and it does "jump around a bit," in that it tries to do a smooth sort of averaging as you turn the knob, and it eventually "catches up" to the real knob position. If you don't like this so much, try one of the other two modes, SNAP and PASS_THRU... SNAP mode instantly jumps to the real knob position as soon as you move the knob (this is how the Voyager behaves) and PASS_THRU mode does nothing until you turn the knob to match the preset value, and then it goes "live" with the real pot value matching the knob position.

You will find these options on the LP Master menu, under "analogue mode."

Thanks Amos, that has helped me by changing the analog mode..however i still get the inital jump when i first turn a knob (ex filter cut off) when changing presets...once it jumps to its place its fine i can turn it back and forth all day and its pretty instant...

Going to attempt to update the OS tonight.

Ok, this issue is completely fixed with me for the update.....

Couple of things ive noticed though after having a mess around with the new update installed

1. Im still getting sticking notes......sometime whem i play a pattern one of the notes sticks constant...before i go and record something down, like when i have some percussion in my DAW (ableton 7) It happens when im playing the track back and jamming with the phatty....Just wondering if anyone else is having this...perhaps its a problem im having with some of the channels on my interface, or maybe even ableton.....Also this happened before the update..

2. Audio drop out...the same description as above....Always one of 3 things happen....1. the sticky note....2. the complete loss of audio until i change preset or 3...It works fine

Overall im happy with the new update though, i would love to know if there are any appregiattor patterns in the phatty..as opposed to just the same one when you press value to activate the arp...also i worked out the tempo change, seems it works with the knob in the modulation section, so does this mean i can change LFO rate without changing the tempo if im using Arp??

Set the Arpeggiator to ORDER instead of up or down, the arp plays the sequence of the notes you play..

Regarding the LFO Rate, if you have the Arp tempo set to LFO Rate you can't change the LFO Rate of the modulation. You'll need to use Pot Mapping in order to do this. Amos explained this on page 3 of this topic:

This also reminds me, if you want to be able to adjust the LFO Rate and the Arpeggiator Rate at the same time, you can use Pot Mapping to your advantage... think of something you aren't going to be tweaking at the exact same instant (envelopes perhaps?), and use Pot Mapping to assign that pot to LFO Rate. In this example you'd set up Pot Mapping for the EGR pot and assign it to LFO Rate/CC 3... then you can adjust the arpeggiator rate using the Modulation pot as normal, and activate Pot Mapping for the Envelopes section and use that pot to tweak your LFO Rate. Need to adjust the envelope times? just turn off Pot Mapping (press any of the Envelope section buttons) and tweak away. Press the same, active button in the Envelopes section to switch back to Pot Mapping control.

I upgrade to OS 2.0 about 2 days ago. I have a Phatty SE and a Midiport 2x2. Its works great and updated so well.

Thankz Amos and all Moog´s guy for this great (and free) update. Its feel like a new synth!!!!

The only thing I want to know if will be an Library/Editor new version??.

I also updated and it went flawlessly. Thanks a bunch. None of my presets changed though. Should it have put the stage II ones on? If not, is there a way I can put them on separately?

eweise ... If you do a Factory Reset (or might be called Factory Restore, I don't quite remember) after the update, that will put the new presets into memory. They do get sent over with the firmware update, but don't appear automatically.

hi all,

i have small question regarding the ARP :

how to i deactivate the arp sending out notes ?

when i record into logic, i would like the phatty to send out only the notes of the cord i play, not the actual ARP notes....

rachel: Text is not case-sensitive yet, but extended text characters are coming in OS 2.1. It's one of several features we ran out of time to include in 2.0, but still fully intend to implement.

hossegor: There is not currently an option to turn off sending MIDI arp notes if the arp is on. This is another feature I'd like to include in OS 2.1.

I know Ima little late on this but I just updated my LP Stage I....it definately took a couple of tries before it actually worked (for the record I was using just the midi out of my digi002) but it finally did....the new presets are great and the arp function is off the chains!!!!! I highly reccommend updating your LP and like I said it took a coupld times but eventually it worked!!! Yes! Now they just need to get the arp funticon on the new voyager software and i'll be set!

Hi,

I've lurked for a while and quite enjoy the whole forum, but have never had a reason to post before.

I'm trying to update my LPSE I to OS2.00, and have had a problem downloading the firmware and stage II presets. Because I've got a non- Intel Powerbook, I can't use the Intel Mac OS2.00 update, but I can download that file. When I try to download the firmware and presets for my older Mac either from the link in this topic or from the Moog site, a page with seemingly random symbols pops up and nothing is downloaded.

Has anyone else had this problem or am I just missing something here?
