So I'm still finding my way around my Voyager and the Editor software.
I am curious how other folks are using the editor software.
I am confused by parts of it. For instance:
Should the library load automatically when the app is launched?
Should the app be remembering my MIDI settings each time it is launched? Presently it does not seem to.
Do I have to create a new library each time I want to make changes? Just selecting "save" prompts me to make a new library file.
Is there a way to play sounds from the library area of the editor window? Not sure what good it is if you can't.... Is the idea to get all the presets into the library, then load them back to the Voyager as needed, or in a way that makes sense to the user? For instance:
-Bank 1 Bass Sounds
-Bank 2 Lead Sounds
-Bank 3 Motion and Special FX
Etc.....
I will have many more questions, but that's enough for now. Thanks in advance,

No, you have to load it every time you launch the program. This makes sense when you consider that the Editor/Librarian app allows you to have an unlimited number of Library files on your computer.jwolford wrote: Should the library load automatically when the app is launched?
Library files (XXX.mvl) can be loaded using either the LIBRARIAN menu command 'Load Voyager Files', or by using the LOAD button in the Library section of the Editor window.
Yes. The Editor/Librarian should retain the the MIDI settings from your last session. Note, however, that the Piano Note Velocity setting always defaults to 100 when the program is launched. Other than that, all MIDI port connections, MIDI controller selections and MIDI channel numbers should be retained. After making any changes to the MIDI Setup, be sure to click the DONE button (don't just close the MIDI Setup window). If you continue to experience problems here, let us know.jwolford wrote:Should the app be remembering my MIDI settings each time it is launched? Presently it does not seem to.
No, you don't have to create a new library file. After making changes to an existing Library, clicking on the SAVE button brings up a dialog box with an 'Untitled' file name (this may be why you think you have to create a new Library file each time). If you simply type in the name of the original Library file, the new file will overwrite the old.jwolford wrote:Do I have to create a new library each time I want to make changes? I'll ask the programmers if it's possible to display the current Library file name instead of 'Untitled' during the SAVE operation.
Of course you can audition Library presets. In the upper right corner of the Editor window is a small checkbox labeled "Auto Dump". When this box is checked, clicking on any Library file will send that patch to the Voyager's Edit buffer for auditioning (you'll need to write the file to the Voyager if you wish to keep it).jwolford wrote:Is there a way to play sounds from the library area of the editor window? The Library allows you to organize thousands of Voyager presets any way that you wish, and then reorganize them into your own custom banks. This gives you total freedom to configure the Voyager presets any way you like, or make special versions of banks for live performances, studio work, different shows, etc.
You're welcome, and feel free to ask away.jwolford wrote:I will have many more questions, but that's enough for now. Thanks in advance

Wow, thank you for the prompt response!!
I was going to email you guys if I did not get an answer here, but you beat me to it.
It's not a huge deal to load the library of my choice, but a "Load last used library on launch" would be a nice option.
The Editor remembered my last MIDI setup on launch today...
I'll let you know if it persists.
Being able to write/save to an existing library without having to type in an identical name each time would be a nice feature as well. It goes against my Mac sensibilities that I have to enter a name on each save.
Adding the key command "command + '" to launch preferences would be much appreciated.
Checking "Autodump" just made my whole life so much better.
I perused the manual several times, and read it intently last night, but must've missed that.
Embarrassing.
One more question, should changes made on the Voyager be reflected in the "Edit" window? I thought I read in the manual that it should. But I am not seeing it here. I see the mini voyager panel in the main window is in sync with what the Voyager is physically doing, but this is not the case for me in the edit window.
Thank you once again for the quick and detailed responses,

Using Librarian software with Voyager
Hi guys,
I have been reading this thread, but I still have a problem.
I am using the Libarian software for a couple of weeks now and I am trying to figure out how to save my custom presets.
I will explain what I did so far:
-After installing I "Received" all the presets from the Voyager to the Librarian software. I then selected a preset from user bank A. I then tweaked the sound on my (hardware) Voyager until I was satisfied (cutoff, decay etc. etc.).
Then I wanted to save these settings in the Librarian so that next time I could use that same tweaked sound. So I used the save button located on the left side of the program and also used the save button on the right side. This gave me a .mvl and .mvr file.
Then I shut down everything and then next time I start up the program and my Voyager I tried to load my custom preset.
Both the .mvl and .mvr files don't seem to load anything, if I try "load" on the left or on the right side, or "load Voyager file" I keep on hearing the same sound which is a standard preset of my Voyager. I can hear clearly this preset is not the tweaked version I tried to save.
Could you please explain what I am doing wrong?
I read the manual several times but it's not clear for me yet.
Thanks very much in advance.
regards, John
