Thanks again Amos for the update on the OS. Is the memory hardwired in or plugged into a socket?

It is a little chip soldered to the main circuit board just above the processor. To replace it properly requires good tools for working on surface-mount electronics... not difficult (it's just one 8-pin chip) but not a DIY job unless you are a tech and have the right equipment.

It would be very generous of you if you made a stripped OS for not upgraded Tributes. Really.

Personally, I would be very glad if there were a possibility to upgrade the Tribute memory, either by myself (following some simple description) or by leaving it to someone else. A "Tribute upgrade pack"? That would be something worth spending some euro on ...

again money to spend away !!

I bought a tribute last year to have the high end moog line

and the tribute is now the low end line...

the cheaper the better ?
sorry to say that but
us tribute people are getting abused...

You can't expect the things you buy to be etarnally updated to the latest version for free.
It is generous of Moog to regulary supply us with new OS. But when the new OS requires new hw it's only fair to pay for it. Especially since the sw is for free.

I understand how you feel...
but what we do in the future changes nothing about the instrument you already own. It is not abuse for us to make improvements to our future products! That is how we grow and progress as a company.

As for spending money, we have not set a price for any upgrades yet, but we want to be very fair to our Tribute customers; the memory upgrade will not be expensive. I'll have more definite information very soon.

ok,

i' was thinking Moog to be more attentive to Tribute owners
for this reason i've bough a Tribute far more expensive than the Stage,
and the Stage now is now more valuable.

and i was thinking that Moog will update first Tribute then others

i dont want to be sarcastic but
what is the advantage to own a Tribute ?
less modulation... less memory... less feature...

It was first,
it is a tribute to Dr. Robert Moog.
Do you remember when the Tribute Edition was released?
It was the first new synth we released since the passing of Dr. Moog.
We were so proud to be continuing his legacy, using the circuits which he designed.
It was a great honor to make these instruments.
For the first year, there was only the Tribute Edition,
so if you wanted a Little Phatty, that was it.

We intentionally made only a limited number of the Tribute Edition,
as a sort of a collector's item, a limited edition.
When that was finished, surely you did not want us to stop making this instrument? I hope not.

When it came time to make another edition of the Little Phatty, of course we could take some lessons we had learned from the Tribute Edition and try to make the instrument even better. Do you think we should have chosen not to make any improvements to the musicality of a Moog instrument, out of respect for the feelings of Tribute Edition owners? That doesn't make sense to me.

We certainly did not intend any disrespect to Tribute Edition owners
by continuing to make our new instruments as good as we can make them to be. You will note that we do all we can to include the Tribute Edition in our progress, by offering free operating system upgrades and making any hardware upgrades available as well.

I think this is as fair as we can be. If you would like to upgrade the hardware of your tribute edition and you have difficulty in finding a technician to do the work, I will work personally with you to try to make the necessary arrangements.

If you see the Tribute Edition only for its value to you as a tool,
you might prefer to sell it and get a Stage Edition instead.

Amos, if you plan on upgrading memory it would be cool if you added more peformance sets. I use a performance set for each song I play, so having only 4 is far from enough, it shouldn't be a problem, now would it?

(I bet the question for more patch memery - second 100 bank is going to be someone's next post)

I bought a LP Tribute before the Stage I was released. I rang around to see who had the Stage but it was days away before it's release.
I chose the Tribute because of it's classic look and the fact that it was going to be virtually the same machine as the Tribute.
Granted I was a little disappointed (after several months of bliss with the LP) when I tested the Stage in a Guitar Center and heard some enticing sounds not possible on the TE...but not enough to have ANY regrets.
It's been a while since the tribute was actually released, not when I others chose to buy it later in the game. So now that there's a chance to upgrade the unique, special edition of this wonderful synth, it feels great.
I think the fact that Moog are involving Tribute owners as much as they do is commendable considering how much work it would take to have several hundred TEs being sent in for the tune up.

Hell, at least Moog doesn't treat its customers like Apple do. Never perfecting a product, but keeping the cost at a premium and releasing something twice as powerful in 6 months for the same price.
I'm proud to be a Moog owner...that's just my 2 cents.

As a Tribute owner, I have no quarrel with Moog about its limitations
I specifically chose to buy one long after the Stage was on the market

That being said, I wouldn't take the trouble and money to get it upgraded hardware-wise
Arpeggiator would be a nice addition if the free software update can implement it
Otherwise I can live happily without it and I'll sure don't want to spend any more money on my Tribute
Again, I'm not saying that in order to criticize Moog Music, because I understand that there are technical matters involved, just expressing my personal position as a user!
