Tonight I plugged in my Theremin to the Freq box to see if I could get a dualing osc kind of sound from it, and I noticed that in the extreme upper registers very close to the antenna I heard a major static sound and then I heard the familliar sum and difference of Ring Modulation.
Freq- 10
Sync-on
Waveform- try between the sawtooth and square waves
Envelope-0
FM-8
Mix- try a little after 5 so you can hear both
THe theremin did work pretty decent with the Freq Box but not necessarily as a tracking osc. With the sync on, you could kind of hear it stepping as the frequencies met eachother but some wierd FX sounds are definately possible. Im goign to do some more experimentation and see how it is when I have a lot more time to spend with it.
See if you guys can hear the ring modulation in the extreme upper registers. I really wonder if the Freq Box was meant to track that far up hehehe.
I think what is very interesting sounding is with an expression pedal in the mix input, try patching some sample and hold (via CP251) to the OSC input on the freq box, and playing the theremin dry(or any instrument) , then sweep up the sample and hold osc and balance it out good.
Another thing that I love about the theremin with an instrument with an envelope follower inside it (in my case the Freq and my electro Harmonix Bass Balls) is that you can more precisely control the sweep that the Env Follower gives you with your volume antenna. The way that I had my theremin set, after my left hand passed a certian point, the FM really kicked in. Its interesting how you can phrase that FM that way.
Well, Good evening everyone.
