Please will Moog Music post details about how to update the OS. I have a computer operating Windows XP and a Voyager. Where do I go from there. Do I need to buy software? I do not run and MIDI software on the PC as I use hardware recorders etc. How do I get the updates and how do I tell which operating system is currently loaded on the Voyager. Don't mean to be a pain, but I (like all) have spent a lot of money on this and there is not much information for the less computer literate among us. Anyone help???
Thanks
Upgrades for OS on the Voyager.
If you're not using MIDI in your studio now, then I would guess that you don't have a MIDI interface either. Is that true?
If so, then you're looking at buying a MIDI interface, installing it, downloading something like MIDI-OX (a preferred MIDI transfer program for Windows) installing it, and then upgrading your machine.
An alternative to this would be to look for a local music dealer in your area. They should (may?) be able to help you get your machine updated if you brought it into them with the OS files on a floppy or CD.
One more possibility is that if you have a soundcard in your PC, then you MIGHT be able to use the joystick (game controller) interface on it as a MIDI interface. This method comes with mixed reliability, but for the purpose that we're talking about, you should be okay.
The "only" thing you need to try this is a special cable. Many music stores and online retailers sell them. For example, here's one in the US:
http://www.zzounds.com/cat--Soundcard-M ... aces--2433
Using that description, and maybe the part numbers, you should be able to find a similar cable at a store in the UK.
Good luck!
