Ring Modulator oscillator tracking?

Post by acmesoundlab » Mon Aug 13, 2007 11:13 am

Hi, I'm thinking about getting an MF-102 to use with my Little Phatty. I have a Little MCV midi-to-CV convertor, and I wondered if I plugged my LP's midi out into the convertor, and plugged the pitch CV out into the MF-102's freq input, with the LP's audio going through the Ring Modulator, would I get somewhat linear tracking, so I could get more in-tune sounds, sort of like a crude FM type of sounds? Anyone try anything like this? Thanks

Try "Lord of the Ring Mod" on Moogspace, an excellent article by GregAE. You will probably need some sort of attenuation to fine tune the oscillator

I do thinks like that alot.

It seems to work pretty well.

Another think I've messed around with is sending one of the audio outs into the carrier in on the RM.

The 102 is a sweet pedal.
Music can Name the Unnamable and Communicate the Unknowable.

'I am... everything is... changed... they're calling... your face... interwoven... who is...' Patient mumbles inaudibly to a tune (sounds like 'Thanks for the memory).

Thanks for the responses. That article answered all my questions. I've now ordered an MF-102. Can't wait till it arrives. -acmesoundlab

Good for you, man.

Glad to hear you found the article helpful. The MF-102 is my favorite 'Fooger - it's got a ton of potential for synthesists and non-synthesists alike.

I'll think you'll be very happy with it. :-)

Cheers!

Greg
