Well if you check eBay there are two people (me being one of them) who are selling their broken Opus 3's for really stellar deals. Mine is the one with lots and lots of beautiful pictures....so don't be biased to purchase that one (wink wink).

Hi again guys, this is a strange question to ask on the messageboards but does anyone else have any experience dealing with shipping to Canada for ebay purchases? I have a possible bidder that wants my item shipped "internationally" but not really very far, just over the boarder, what are some things I have to take into consideration if he/she were to win? Is there any chance that I can get screwed in this situation?

Well, there is always a chance it can go bad, but I have personally had no trouble shipping ebay items to Canada from California.

Make sure you get some sort of secure payment (Paypal, etc...). Pack up very safely - overly safe, and get insurance. You'll have to fill out additional forms no matter which way you ship, but it is only minutes of extra time.

Most international buyers I've had prefer USPS International Priority Air because UPS is outrageously expensive and seems to have more complications clearing customs and adding customs charges.

Anyway, if the buyer seems decent through your communications, you're probably good. If you have a bad intuition about it, don't do it.

i am in canada...no problem shipping here from USA i have recieved all my ebay purchases no problem..sometimes is little slow tho on canadian side. Yes i prefer USPS to other carriers as its the cheapest customs clearance charges. avrerage $5.00 compared to $50 for other carriers eg UPS etc. hope this makes you feel more confident.

PS canadians are notoriuosly honest and politically correct too lol ;)

Thanks dr_floyd & dlearyus for the responses, I think i will give it a try with USPS if that bidder wins the auction. I am also a lover of Canada, most of my friends in town are actually Canadian (most from Vancouver) and they have successfully convinced me it is the coolest city to live in ever.....for now though i am moving to Seattle (close enough?).

writeroxie: haha...I sure hope not, i have seen about as many broken ones as I have seen functioning, I still don't know what the weak link in these synths is though, mine was the TOS chip. I'm just sad I never got mine running. Well at least it's not as complicated & prone to failure as a polymoog.....actually.....maybe we should give it a couple more years!

hahaha sure thats close enuff EEgeek dayum we neighbours! well not me in particular im way the other end of TGWN (The Great White North) ;) loverly winters. anyway Seattle is/was a real nice city last time I was there I saw the Grateful Dead at the Space Needle thing around 1979 or 80. Top octave generator chips aren't *that* hard to find.
I have one or two and I'm sure there's some out there if you look for awhile.

Yeah, I've really only found one source for the MO83B on the net and they want $40 for it which is pretty outrageous considering my luck with static electricity (wink wink).

$40 is a good price for a TOG.
You could also use a 50240, but they wouldn't be any less expensive.
I wouldn't worry too much about static electricity either unless you're zapping things regularly.
