Here are my suggestions for the next FW update:

- Increase the resolution of Analog Mode "Track" (in the current FW, zipper noise is noticeble before a stored value is traversed and the value is handed over to the analog pot)

- Increase the depth of Cutoff knob and filter EG amount, so that the filter can be opened wider (that would result in preset incompatibility, though...)

cheers,
kybernaut

This is more of a visual change but it would be nice.
When using non-LFO related MOD sources (i.e. Filt. EGR, Osc. 2, Noise) it would be nice if the "LFO Rate" LED actually turned off, in addition, maybe when trying to click the "LFO Rate" you could even turn off the LED ring around the POT. I know this seems kinda pointless but it's just little things like that that sometimes initially confuse me (i.e. why can i modify this LFO if it can't actually do anything to the signal path in this mode) then it eventually annoys me! :)

Another thing that really bothers me is that the symbol for sustain in the Envelope section is a time based diagram and not an amplitude based diagram (seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ecallender/223944188/)

these are just random thoughts but seem to be things that a synthesizer newbie who just bought their very first synth (LP) might be confused about (or worse, misinformed in the case of the time vs. amplitude diagram)

What about sending the "internal" 4096 values thru midi with NRPN instead the normal CC?
It's a pity having such a low resolution (128) on a real analog machine. You really notice the steps when recording and playing pot movements. Definetely it's not a nice thing :(

Seems safe to announce that certain controllers will definitely send and receive at 14-bit resolution in the upcoming OS release. Pitch Bend was already 14-bit I think... in the upcoming release the Modulation wheel CC will be 14-bit, as well as Filter Cutoff.

Using the Mod wheel to control filter cutoff, now allows VERY smooth tweaks to be recorded and played back via MIDI. It sounds amazingly better. 8)

What about the modwheel to control the amount of Vol/Pitch/Filter from external sources? I hope my previous post hasn't gone unnoticed.

When I use S+H or noise as a mod source, if I press a button on the panel the "hold" stands for a longer time. Has anybody else noticed this? It's more evident with the noise.

It could be a hardware related problem or a software problem. I don't have any idea about how these functions are actually implemented. By the way, does anybody know? If it's a software bug a fix would be so nice :)

Sorry if I ask for current "problems" instead of new features but IMHO the LP worths it, like in the ad :P

could you "leak" a release date timeframe so I can get some sleep?

still in alpha testing
beta release tomorrow, we hope
actual release a week after beta, barring unforseen changes.

so realistically about a month. ;)

hopefully sooner!

[edit]: Just to clarify, most of the super-fancy features we are discussing will take some real time to implement; we are putting them on our "version 2.0" wish list. There will be a firmware update soon, but it will be v1.03C with a few bugfixes and several new features, but nothing earth-shaking.

Unless of course you have a Voyager and an LP and think it would be earth-shaking to play them together, duophonically... you'll be able to do that. :)

No offense - but is a tutorial really needed for something as easy to use as the LP?

I'd suggest you pick up a copy of 'Power Tools for Synthesizer Programming' by Jim Aiken. It explains synthesis in depth (all forms, not just analog), including oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFO's, modulation and effects. The book is pretty comprehensive, and would make a great introduction for a newbie.

I would like to have the ability to adjust the LCD Contrast. I feel that it's too bright and that the pixels will probably start dimming after 7-8 years. I'd only have my brightness up to 40%.

Thanks!

Is that even possible to add with software updates?
