how do i get my guitar to work through the external audio in

Post by triple » Thu Jun 07, 2007 2:11 pm

i am a complete newbie when it comes to analog synths and have been trying to get my guitar to run through the external audio in but i don't really get anything coming out...i made sure the external audio switch was set to on in the mixer section and that the red switch by the headphones was set to external audio but i still don't get anything...the manual is no help when i looked for some advice...
maybe i'm expecting the wrong thing to happen...i'm kind of looking at it like the moog will be an effect box for the guitar or something and that i should be able to hear my guitar coming through it but be all weird sounding or something...is this what happens...i'm kind of hoping to get some weird tones from my guitar after it goes through the moog but for right now i got nothing what-so-ever...any ideas on what i need to do...thanks

you may need to preamp your guitar before the voyager to get enough gain out of it.or take a line out of your guitar amp.

normally you just plug in, switch mixer to on, turn up volume on ext in, switch the envelope/gate switch to external and turn the oscs off.

i'll try that tonight...
what should i expect to hear from the moog...will it pretty much just sound like a guitar that has been run through an effects pedal or am i not even close to what really happens...

If your amp has a LINE OUT you can use that for the Voyager.

DO NOT plug the speaker out into the Voyager, you'll damage it.

I really like using an external sequencer to open the gate. You can program any sort of rhythm!

I'd like to be able to mod the pitch and not just the filter as the ext signal passes through it. But I guess when you mod pitch you're modding the osc and not the signal itself?
