But, hmm, if you're going to make an arpeggiator, please make it a bit more intuitive than the "press this and that button for up, down arp, and that and this button for down, down arp" feature that was added to the Evolver Keyboards...
-I think that arps are rather useless anyhow, but when its like that it's almost completely useless!

A step sequencer could be setup with the row of buttons that make up 8 notes or so.
The EG section would be ideal.
Perhaps you could store, per patch, a simple sequence of 8 notes, set to any pitch
or off. You could create the sequence by selecting the buttons in the EG module
and then selecting a note on the keyboard (or a rest). The sequence would trigger
back either just from clock and then running from the memory and/or triggered
from the keyboard so it only runs when a note is depressed. In addition,
any key pressed would play back the sequence in that key!
Now that would be cool. Whether there is enough memory onboard to do that,
is anyone's guess. An aftermarket firmware and memory upgrade would work here.
A synth like the OSCar has a similar ability already, but it was made to do it.
But not everyone wants an Oberheim Cyclone built into their phatty. I know I do,
but how much can be done before it has to have some physical upgrades done?

How about this, instead of an built-in arpeggiator in the LP:
Moog develops an external arpeggiator box that can run any midi synthesizer through midi or cv/gate.

Most of them aren't very good except for the Cyclone and none of them are made any more.lovedroid wrote:There are at least a few external arp boxes out there already.
An Arp/Step sequencer in the same form factor as the LP would be a great idea.
It could then have more features and memory and not look out of place alongside
other Moog products.

It could also work on different midi channels at the same time, making it possible to sync arpeggio on several synths ...rachel wrote:An Arp/Step sequencer in the same form factor as the LP would be a great idea.

Alright, I'm not that into arpeggiators, so I only know that I've read about a couple of external ones, e.g. Waldorf Gecko, plus MAM and Oberheim "something"...
And then there are a bunch of hardware step sequencers as well...
But perhaps there's a niche here then if the arps that are available aren't that good. A Moogerfooger arp/stepseq?
