Voyager Case

Hello,

Let's talk cases....

Does anyone know an affardable way of protecting my new Moog Voyager? I want a ATA hardshell case, but the $400 price tag on the Moog Issued ATA Flight Case is a little steep.

I have seen E-Bay auctions for affordable ATA flight cases for Minimoogs, (but I think they are for the original vintage units). Their "foam to foam" measurements are: 29" x 17 3/4" x 5 1/2". And the Moog Voyager's actual dimentions are: 30 1/2" X 18" X 3" (according to moogmusic.com).

Will the Voyager fit in to the vintage Minimoog case (as described above)? It seems that the biggest problem would be the 1.5" extra width.

What are you guys hauling your moog voyagers in? Has everyone sprung for the $400 moog case!?!?

I am considering the $250 plastic molded case, but I'd rather have the real-deal, considering my Moog's intense touring schedule ahead.

And since the e-bay ATA Flight Case for the Minimoog is going for $179, I'd buy that up if it would fit!

Just looking for suggestions.

No...Just tape down the control pannel to the back and wrap a towel around it.

I bought an Anvil ATA case for my Voyager - it cost me $300.

I have been buying Anvil cases for my gear for twenty years. They are WORTH the money. http://www.anvildealer.com/

The Jan-al case that Moog Music offers is as good a case as Anvil; for the extra $100 over an Anvil they give you wheels, a retracting handle, and a Moog stencil. I wouldn't want a case with a Moog label - it says STEAL ME.

A Minimoog case will not fit a Voyager - and those cases on eBay do not look sturdy for road abuse, I highly doubt they are ATA certified.

If your Voyager is doing more than club gigs, the molded case will not be enough protection.

I already called anvildealer.com, they were very helpful. They gave me a quote of 280 + shipping...Not bad!

(sure beats $400)

Hopefully you are joking !!! But I actually did that for a gig on saturday. (and I wrapped a plastic garbage bag around it too!) Real good protection!!!

Make sure you specify RECESSED LATCHES AND HANDLES.

My latches were recessed but the handles weren't - I can live with it. It's important that the latches are recessed.

Anvil said that the case they would offer me DID have recessed latches, but the handle had to be surface mounted because of the smaller dimentions (i assume he meant width) of the case.

Just for the record..if anyone comes across this post in search for a high quality, inexpensive case for their Voyager:

Hybrid Cases (in Holbrook, NY) sells a cases that fits the Voyager perfectly. It was only $179!!! and it is a steal!!!!

Their prices are a lot higher on their website, but mention that you saw their E-Bay auctions (which sell for $179) and they will give you that offer price.

(they sell a vintage Minimoog case on Ebay, but they make an updated version for the new Voyagers.
