Tribute = No Second Mod Destination
Very pleased owning a tribute, looks cool, and getting free updates also!.Getting more then I payed for!.Nice people those moog folks. They are even developing their products further, bringing them to a higher level. Why are you complaining?,tribute seems a good investment to me,will be worth a lot more in a few years, sell it then and buy an LP that has grown.Awaiting the new OS;-).
First time moog buyer and not regretting it.Thanks Amos.

Personally, i feel really fucked up, it´s true, technology is always getting far, but we are in 21 century, and i think a great company like moog has to think beforehand about this kind of things, i don´t like to compare, but as an example, i has an dave smith evolver, and when a new hard upgrade was able, you just buy a eeprom chip and simply plug it on the board. I feel really bad aout this, and if it´s true this is a hardware issue, i expect a possible chance of upgrade.

Wow, big respect to Amon and other Moog people
who have emerged a few times to try and calm the baying
crowds of gearheads. Sorry posters, I understand the passion
for equipment but please, its not a major hardware difference
and even if it was, its called the passage of time and is far kinder
to synthesisers than it is to other items like computers. Despite
being a laser physicist I can't see what being in the 21st century
has to do with the complexities of a small company getting a
handmade product to market to critical acclaim from (nearly) all
and then finding an easy way to improve it a little (a very little).
So, I hope that Moog doesn't even do the free hardware upgrade,
as I want Moog to do well as a company, pay its employees well and
have plenty left for R&D to make more cool gear.

i respect too much moog music. I know is a small company and serious company, that´s way this kind of issue strange me so much, i´m not asking for a free upgrade, but i think maybe they should offer an upgrade (if its possible), the Tribute edition is the expensive version, but it has less posibilities, well, you have the wood panels. Maybe, for a musician non producer, this is a small thing, for a musucuan an electronic music producer, this is bigger (i think). I have to say that the LP is a great synth, and the stage version is even better.
Cheers to all and sorry for my bad english

You purchase a loaded 2007 Mercedes in November 2006 fresh off the assembly line and are happy with it. The next person comes along and purchases the same car in July 2007. However Mercedes upgraded the vehicle and installed electronic retractable side view mirrors. Will Mercedes offer the upgrade to previous customers? Yes. Will Moog offer a free upgrade? More than likely No. Do we all still own the Mercedes of synthesizers? Yes, should we be greatful? Yes. You are only as creative as the limits your mind sets. Now go start up your Mercedes and make some patches.
Can someone explain to me exactly what a 2nd Mod Destination does?...how it's useful etc...
The biggest question that comes into my mind about the Stage is, is it the new direction for Moog and a departure from the vintage look of everything? Will the next line of Foogers and Voyagers have similar stylings to that of the TE and Stage?
Boggles the mind...

A second mod routing would be really great (I missed that from the beginning), and its indeed a bit disappointing to hear that this is impossible for the TE (because it was announced that the TE has the same features and get the same OS update as the stage edition).
But on the other hand, its always good to enhance an existing product line. For example, the famous Polymoog had a lot of such minor hardware updates during his lifecycle (documented at over 20 pages in the service manual), and no one complained about that.
So I would not expect a hardware update for free, but I think Moog should offer that for a reasonable fee. A big problem for international customers (like me) is that we mostly have no moog service points in our countries. So I hope we get the possibility of a DIY-kit, which can be handled by experienced engineers

Well, I guess you don't care about my opinion because I don't ownJazzpunk wrote:If you are going to weigh in on this thread you should state whether you own a TE or not. Obviously those of us who own them aren't going to care about the opinion of someone who does not.
Cheers.
a LP TE. Wrong time, no money. Why am I on this forum though? Because I want one. You don't trust that I am capable of showing any empathy towards somebody who shelled out for a special piece of kit. Fair enough. But if you want to apply that logic I could do some rewording:
"If you are going to weigh in on this thread you should state whether
you are experienced in the realities of hardware system design and
commercial manufacture. Obviously those of us who are are not going
to care about the opinion of someone who does not"
All the best

i only now if it´s moog is the Mercedes of the synthetizers, they should offer an upgrade, if not, maybe i think moog was the Mercedes of the synthetizers, of course, i´m still making some patches, but i think a 2mod destinanation is a great think if you want some alien sounds? don´t you think so?. Well, we only can wait, make some noise, and see what happens

I think exactly the same

A second mod destination is simply being able to send the modulation to two parameters: i.e. you can send the mod to pitch and the filter cut-off at the same time. This does not give you an indepedent modulation. Any change you make to the mod amount or frequency will be sent equally to both parameters.Xenollop wrote:Can someone explain to me exactly what a 2nd Mod Destination does?...how it's useful etc...
