How can I get a vocal sound

Hi my band is doing a cover of Helter Skelter by The Beatles I am useing a rackmount voyager and roland pk5 pedals like taurus pedals.

We cant seem to get the background vacals to sound good so I was thinking of useing the voyager to get the background vocals sound if this is at all posable I know this wont sound like the Beatles but do any of you moog useres have any ideas on what you think would work well

You can get very synthetic sounding vowel sounds from the Voyager, but not very realistic choir sounds. Also, its monophonic, and that would lead to pretty skimpy backing vocals (unless you were overdubbing a recording).

I think you are looking for a rompler.

Yes - I think a digital, polyphonic synth is what you need. Not to be rude, but have you used synths for long?

No I am very new to synth`s I am a bass player and purchased the voyager rackmount and roland pk5 pedals to use like Taurus pedals.

For the Taurus sound and band accent for the band this works great.
As for a rompler I have thought about this but don`t want to get into computer stuff. I was hopeing just to get somekind of background vocal sound or a nice synth sound that would fill the void and make things a little differant and interesting. I don`t think a string sound will cut it maybe working with the chordal mod surprise preset might work nice what do you guys think.

Totally understand your situation and didn't mean to appear condescending (the italics probably didn't help). I was just suggesting getting a cheap digital module that would have some relatively high-quality vocal samples or choir patches, could play chords and that might fit the bill better than the Voyager. An old rackmount sampler could be an option too - old Ensoniq Mirages are cheaper than guitar string quite often.

I'm sure you could come up with something vaguely vocal-like patches using osc->filter FM or creative filtering, but as OysterRock said, they will be rather synthetic - and monophonic at that.
