phaser distortion

Post by spacefuzzz » Tue Dec 26, 2006 5:21 pm

ok my pedals go: EHX DMM--Boss DD-20---mf102--mf103--EHX polychorus--fuzz factory--rat.......

im not running the drive too high on the ringmod and phaser. the output knob on the phaser is giving me problems because if i dont run it high i get a vol drop. i can get it to unity level but then there is distortion. its really pissing me off  so anyone have advice? if i take the resonance down it goes away a bit but its still there.

maybe try adjusting the gain-staging of your pedal set-up? the 103's output is a little quiet; there's not really a way of getting around this without cranking the drive. Try configuring the pedals in a way that will allow you to amplify the signal after the 103 in your chain. the resonance issue on the other hand is always going to be there, as cranking the rez resolutely makes freqs not being amplified sound quieter.

let's hope it doesn't come to that, the 103 is easily the best phaser on the market. :)

i know the potential of this pedal. but when it has all these quirks that hurt tone it gets frustrating.
