MIDI problems?

Post by jeepyboy » Wed Apr 07, 2004 10:05 pm

I have so far been unable to upload new patches to my Voyager using Cubase SX. The transfer appears to be going OK, but no new data actually appears at the synth.

Has anyone managed to use Cubase SX successfully in this manner, or can anyone suggest suitable third party (free) software that will do the trick?

Also, I notice that my Voyager is not transmitting (or receiving) some MIDI messages, like pitch bend and modulation, that it should be. I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with my system - any ideas?

Thanks

Are you on a Mac or PC? I'm on a Mac and uploaded patches to the Voyager lastnight. No problems. I use this utility (there should be a similar one for PC somewhere) http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/ It's the best for sending patches, backing up patches, installing a new OS etc.

With the latest OS 2.0 you should not have any problems sending/receiving midi messages. I'm running Logic and haven't really tried this yet so I'll have to get back to this post if anyone else hasn't also tried with a similar sequencer.

Thanks for that.

I have been using a PC until now, but will go ahead and try running the librarian you suggest on my powerbook.

Incidentally, despite the link on this site, I have been unable to actually find the OS 2.0 Voyager upgrade. Any ideas?

The manual mentions this program for PC http://www.midiox.com Might want to check this one out too.

Thanks, Monads.

Having (finally) successfully tracked down and loaded OS 2.0 and turned the MIDI functions on, I am now a happy little bunny with 4 sets of presets to play with!

New improved OS 2.1 is due out next week which is probably why OS 2.0's been taken off (I got this from Moog).

Cheers

John
