I need help in a bad way... (not anymore!) UPDATED!!!

long story short...I put 300 down on a "broken" Prodigy 9 months ago at a small music shop. The guy has been giving me the run around a long time now about its progress. I've been really patient...calling every few weeks too check in on it.

He's only getting the faintest of signals from the little bugger...he says there must be a way to fix it, but it seems like he'll do anything to give up on it. Even letting me have it for the down payment I gave him last year.

It's been very discouraging for me. :(

Would anyone here want to take on bringing this Prodigy back to life...
or directing me to any reputable people who would enjoy helping me out? I didn't want it to come to this...and I know patience is a virtue...but you guys here are the only other people I can turn to. I apologize for looking desperate.

How much is the agreed upon price for this unit?

You should be able to pick up an LP Stage Edition for $1000 or less in a few months........

If you don't have a local guy to work on your vintage synth, I would really advise to think new.
Thanks Bob!!

UPDATE: THE PRODIGY IS ALIVE!!!

Post by DirtyLarry » Sat Jan 20, 2007 12:56 am

THE PRODIGY IS ALIVE!!!

What can I say? The gentleman who serviced my moog is a real pro and he'll gladly take on any monosynth projects...I can put people in touch with him should anyone need any servicing. He knows his stuff...a real pro and a stand-up guy for sure.

He cracked the bad boy open and knew where to start. He brought the 2nd OSC back to life, replaced all the capacitors and checked every solder joint...and then some. He even managed to upgrade everylittle thing inside of the prodigy to bring it up to date by way of the final 1984 production standards. There's a whole lot more that he did for this...but I can't remember every detail. He gave the keys a bath, replaced a faulty decay pot, and he even threw in an air freshener.

Tim, if you're reading this...thank you so much. I still have the ziplock bag of dead parts as a momento of this epic 10-month struggle to get my hands on a prodigy. Prodigy #1312 is alive and well...
