There really is no "best" or "right" way to configure pedals because it is completely subjective. Different configurations will yield different, sometimes more dramatic results, but no way is best. The way to get the sound you like is through experimintation.
If you want a standard place to start, a good rule of thumb is to run your instrument through the pedals that add harmonics first (distortions, ring modulators, etc) then through the pedals that filter out frequencies (wah pedals, phasers, the MuRF), then lastly though time based pedals (delays).
Of course, nothing is set in stone and don't let anyone tell what not to try. You can get great results by different orders, too. The key is experimintation! Thats what effects pedals are all about!
