i got the ring and phase. patched together its great. but would i get more extreme, WIERD, gurgling sounds if i get the lowpass? im playing guitar by the way. so what im thinking is i can stay with the phaser and get the cp251 OR sell the phaser and use the $$$ to get a lowpass??? what do you think?

Get both if you can,
you can't go wrong with a Moog!
I know that a ring mod with a filter is a classic configuration
and the cp251 would help you to make a modular set up for guitar if you want to add things later,
but the Moog phaser is nice and better than my (boring) Boss phaser
(sorry Boss phaser for that, but you make feel me bored sometimes

as a guitar player also i can attest to the wierd gurgling sounds you speak of easily achieved by the combination of plugging the ring mod INTO the lowpass filter...you can even turn off the envelope follower section of the fliter and conrtol the cutoff frequency with an expression pedal and get a very close approximation of a squirty synth sound. Also using the LFO out jack on the ring mod into the cutoff jack on the lowpass will give you an autowah, the speed of which can be controlled by the speed of the LFO on the ring mod. You don't really need the control processor with just one or two moog pedals...not all that useful. I would highly reccommend that you DON"T sell the phasor and instead bide your time and save up for a lowpass filter. with those three moog pedals you will be able to make wierd gurgly sounds till the cows come home. you're going to hate yourself down the road if you sell that phasor though cause its really the best out there...take your time and look for a used lowpass on craigslist or ebay.
