the clips on the moogmusic.com page with the ring modulator aren't really winnign me over, though the idea of combinign them with other moogerfoogers is interesting. however i have been unable to find clips of themon the net, so i'm wondering if anyone out there has run into any.

I had the same non-plussed reaction to the 102 demos and am also curious to hear less pedestrian uses of the 102.
Ring Mod as an effect in general, when it is used in the typical way to achieve enharmonic metallic sounds, seems a bit of a one trick pony, always sounding to me like Mark Mothersbaugh's synth in early Devo days. But when it's used creatively, I've heard it do way less predictable things, and that seems much more possible with all the CV possibilities on the 102.

I agree. The typical ringmod sound (just instrument signal X internal carrier) can be a bit bland, even unpleasent. You worry too much, the videos are excellent.

Here's a fun setup i've been messing with today.
If you have a MF-102 and a Bass MURF (or perhaps a regular MURF) and a Voyager with the VX-351.
I've got the 102's LFO out Patched back into the 102's audio in. The settings for the 102 are Amount and Rate and Modulation: Max; Wave: triangle; Frequency: High and around 12:00; Drive: to taste.
The 102's out is then patched into my BMURF's in. The settings for the BMURF are Bank: B/LFO; Patter: 11; Envelope: about 2; Mix and Output: Max; Rate: about 6; Drive: too taste; Filters: to tast (All up gets me a John Bohnam in the other room vibe).
The 351's KBD out (using Middle D on the Keyboard) is driving the 102's Rate CV in and the 351's LFO Square out (with Rate at Max) is driving the 102's Freq CV in. *If you don't have a Voyager you may be able to get the same sound using an LFO from another source and adjusting the 102's frequency.
Patch the BMURF's two out's to two mixer in's and you get a Weird "When the Levee Breaks" stereo drum beat!!
Remember, the key is experimentation! The above settings got me the John Bohnam thing but there are ton's of other (and wildly different) sounds available using different settings. Also remember that the 102 has the output of the carrier oscillator giving you an additional sound souce as previously mentioned in this thread.
I just feel that having the Voyager with the 351 and the Foogers is like having a modern day Moog modular. The Real deal with all the CV patching!!
If anyone tries this please let me know if you were able to get a similar sound, i'm curious given the fact that these are analog products.
