expression pedal question
Hi~~I just bought the Ring Modulator. I was wondering what the expression pedal could do for the ring modulator. How can the 2 work together? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

BTW,
the absolute BEST expression pedal for the moogerfoogers is a modified ernie ball volume pedal (with the jacks on the front). I'm not exactly sure how to do it but a friend of mine has done this mod for me a couple of times and it really didn't look all that complicated-took him about ten minutes. The Ernie ball's smoothness beats just about any expression pedal out there! I use two for my MF-104Z and they're awesome!

redeye,
Do you have any more info about how to do the mod? I have an ernie ball vp (jr?) and really like it, but it works better for volume than cv control. (I think this is because the volume pot is exponential when a linear pot is what is better for cv control.) It would be great to mod it so that the last 10% of the pedal didn't control 90% of the cv...

I have had the new ernie ball volume pedals (not the jr versions) with the jacks in the front modded by my friend and they work really really well...sooo much better than the moog expression pedals. My friend actually has this mod with some pics listed in his blog on his website. You can acess it at: www.whitewizardelectronic.com it's a pretty easy mod if you know what you're doing with a soldering iron...I don't really so I leave it up to the experts. Anyway, I don't know if it works with the jr. but it certainly works well with the newer volume pedals with the jacks in the front. If you do the mod you have to get a stereo cable (one 1/4 inch jack to one 1/4 inch jack-NOT dual) and connect it to the out of the volume pedal and then it should work great. The volume pedal will also still work as a regualr volume pedal only it will work in reverse.

You can get a VP Jr modded for Moog from www.toneczareffects.com. Very nice expression pedals.
Re: expression pedal question
Expression pedals can also extend the range of many of the knobs/parameters you are controlling. ie- if you turn the lfo rate knob all the way clockwise then use the exp. pedal it will go faster than without the pedal! sweet.the droning sunn wrote:Hi~~I just bought the Ring Modulator. Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I just got my Low pass filter and was wondering about expression pedals.
First, If one got a stereo volume pedal, could you theoretically control 2 parameters at once with it? To those with experience with more than one expression pedal, is there any point to this whatsoever (ie moving 2 controls simultaneously)?
Second, Alien 8 suggested the BOSS FV500H. ANyone have any idea what the impedances on those are... I didn't see it on boss's site and am pretty sick of having customer support emails ignored. Could the 500L work, or ernie ball's stero offering with a pot swap?
Finally, as I'd imagine that a selectable taper would be tricky for someone with minimal modification experience what taper do people prefer for expression pedals? Any links/etc (i know, I'm a noob and its not a tough mod) as the previously posted one is coming up dead for me?
Thanks for all the help so far. Your tolerance of my lack of knowledge is appreciated.
