external in problems

I just got a voyager today, and wanted to try running other signals through the filters. I plugged a guitar to external in and can't hear it from the main out. The external LED is lighting up, and I can hear the guitar if I connect from Mixer Out/Filter In, but that doesn't run it through the filter, which was my whole point. One more thing, will any expression work in Mod 1? I want to use this as an odd wah pedal if I can, I was going to buy a metasonix TM-2 or TM-6, but I'm hoping I got this extra function and kill two birds. I got it on E-bay, someone tell me I am doing something wrong with the ext in and that I didn't get screwed. Please.

I am not very used to the Voyager because I also bought it recently but I guess your problem is, that you do have to press a key. This way it works on a Sunsyn, I didn´t try it on the Voyager.

Thanks, that was it. As for my question about expression pedals, the two I have don't seem to work. I don't know what the difference could be between these and the Moog EP-1 pedal. But I just went in mod 1 (and even tried mod 2) and set the destinations to Filter, and no luck. Do I need to buy yet another expression pedal?

Not necessarily. The expression pedals you currently have might be fine for the purpose - the problem could be in understanding how the Voyager's Mod 1 & 2 inputs work.
