Moog Prodigy Back Panel Jacks

Post by MT » Tue Mar 23, 2004 4:09 pm

Since I only use the OSC in and Audio out for now, and Have no other CV synth, I wanted to ask about the "other" jacks on the back of My Prodigy: Audio in, Kybd in/out, S-Trig out, Sync in. I am aware of Gate i/o, but I just needed a mild definition of these jacks to clear up the vagueness... I appreciate you! -MT

Audio In:
routes external audio to the VCF audio in and then into the VCA. You need to trigger the envelope to open the VCA to hear a sound.

S-Trig-out:
each time you press a key on the Prodigy's keyboard this socket will short to ground (S-Trig = short to ground trigger. V-Trig = voltage trigger) and will stay that way untill you release all keys. Usefull to trigger other analog synths using S-Trigger.

Sync-in:
If the Oscillators set to sync mode, the second oscillator (VCO) will sync it waye shpre to the first oscillator. That is resetting the wave to the start each time the master oscillator starts its waveshape period again. By using this jack, the oscillator will sync to external signal present at this jack and not to the other oscillator anymore. Seldom used.

Keyboard out:
sends out the key you play on the keyboard using the 1 V/oct. norm. You drive other synth with this signal plus the GATE out.

Keyboard in:
you drive the Prodigy from other analog synth using the 1 V/oct. sheme. You need the Gate IN also, other wise no note will be triggered by the external voltage.

Hope this helps.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

I just got my first synth, a prodigy, and I am trying to figure out if I can hook my rhodes up through it. My back panel has a s-trig output, KYBD in/out, osc in, vcf in, sync in, and a high level audio out. I don't have an 'audio in' and I've tried the VCF in and triggering the VCA envelope, but I'm not really sure what that means. The multi-lingual manual is not of much assistance.

Please help.
