Flickering light problem on LP's

Post by thewaag » Mon Sep 11, 2006 6:19 pm

So does anybody know why so many of the LP's are arriving with the "flickering light" problem? Some have to be sent back, some fix themselves when left on overnight, and some just quit flickering after a while (according to those that are posting in the forum).

What is the cause of this flickering light thing? For me, if my LP arrives (whenever that will happen) with flickering lights and then they stop one day as if by magic, I will just be waiting for them to come back again. Kind of takes the fun out of it.

When my Source had the intermittant filter problem, I just couldn't get into using it, as I knew that sometime, when I was enjoying the sound the most, suddenly my filter would go out and would bum the whole experience.

I don't want to have to be worrying about intermittant flickering lights on my brand new LP!!
Thanks Bob!!

I just got mine yesterday and its serial 125. No flickering lights or noise. I reckon theyve sorted it out for good. Dont worry.

I suspect, if the problem goes away after being left on overnight,
that it is probably some sort of backup battery thing, or some
capacitator that likes to be pumped up all the time after being drained
while shipping. I just bet all the ones that go OS will all need to
be left on overnight the first time you use it...

613# just arrived, flickering sustain button light for the filter section.. it weirdly only flickers when i press the button, otherwise if its on, its very very dim or off completely. everything else is fine though.. just .. weird. i'll try the overnight thing, hopefully this is just a flash in the pan, i think this thing has probably travelled 8,000 miles in the course of 7 days, so we'll see :)

So did leaving it on overnight fix the problem? I hope so. You have been through enough s#%* in your quest to own a Little Phatty!!

nope, it flickers for like 5 minutes and then fades out over the course of about 10 minutes for the rest of the period the machine is on. i won't be returning it for something as topical as that until towards the end of the warranty, but it's a bummer nonetheless.. two defective (albeit this one is fine otherwise) machines in a row :/

that said, i love the LP, its so intuitive and visceral! personally it even feels a little more expressive to me than the voyager; not really in terms of sound generation ability, but how the parameters sound when you adjust them. it feels likes there is more variance.. maybe thats the new RAC tech at work :)
