Post by team et » Tue Mar 14, 2006 1:33 am

My Moog theremin has been set up and working. It is hooked to an amp. But today I turned it on and nothing .. It makes a click when turned on and it makes a theremin whistle sound when turned off. But nothing in between.. I need Help!! what could it be I have looked at all connections, double checked the amp. iI don't know what to do. Do these things have a habit of just quitting. It hasn't been moved around or dropped or any of that. please if anyone has any idea. you can email me hfeinc@yahoo.com

Have you contacted your supplier? I'd advise doing that, and then emailing Moog direct (use the contact on this website) if you still need to.

I don't have a theremin so I can't comment on the problem. Hopefully someone here will. But it does sound like you need to speak to your supplier anyway.

If it turns out to be some quirk that theremins have, and not a fault, they should be able to tell you that and tell you how to sort it. Otherwise they should be replacing your instrument.

I had a similar problem early on with my EW Standard... I took out the 2 front and 2 back screws, played with the wires a bit, put it back together and it worked.. No reasonalbe explanation...

did you mess around with tuning the circuits?... Has it been exposed to alot of heat (with all this global warming going on this summer.) If the pitch circuit is improperly tuned, you won't get any sound ...

download the manual and tuning precedures here http://moogmusic.com/detail.php?product ... duct_id=14

Hope this works.. Do you still have the plastic screwdriver?

My theremin showed the same behavior, after I colorized the case (I have the Theremin kit). I was very worried but after it dried for two days, it worked fully.

So how did you make out? Did you get it working? If so, I'm curious what the problem was.
