MuRF Pattern Step Adaptor?
MuRF Pattern Step Adaptor?
I am about to order the Bass MuRF MF-105B and was interested in finding out what accessories (FS-1, EP-1, alternatives to these) people find most desireable.
Also confused by the MuRF Pattern Step Adapter. The FS-1 has a mono plug on it and the adapter seems to make it balanced/stereo(not certain of the term I am looking for). Basically do I need to purchase this from Moog or an authorized retailer or can I head down to the local store (radio shack/some guitar store) and get what I need. Just need to know what I am asking for or is it some proprietory adapter the Moog has made.
I have the MF-101 (and the FS-1) so I am very excited to pick up the MuRF.
Thanks in advance for the help.

here is some color from a fellow Gear Page member when I asked him about the MuRF. It does not answer your question about Radio Shack, but...
"...the tap tempo stays in sync and works very well for all applications, I just purchased the female/male adapter that allows me to shift through the patterns manually with the temporary latching footswitch, DEFINITELY a must have for the unit, great for textures.
It keeps time perfectly and doesn’t seem to have an dilation over long periods of time. The textures it creates are very unique, and while I’m less of a fan of the rhythmic clicks and beeps it can do, the more smooth phase sounds, choppy tremolo sounds and some borderline flanger sounds it gets are all very unique to the unit and sound great..."

I have had my Bass MuRF for a couple of weeks now and finally broke down and bought a three dollar 1/4 mono female to 1/4 stereo male adapter to see if it will function as a pattern step adapter.
When I plugged in my FS-1 (which is actually a Kurzweil, what came in the mail instead of the FS-1) foot controller into the tap tempo/rate insert the Rate led turned green. Holding a note on my bass and tapping the foot controller moved one step through the pattern I had selected. So I guess you can find a cheaper alternative to the MuRF pattern step adapter (though I am not sure if there are any repercussions to using a third party adapter yet???)
This is a pretty cool effect in Pattern setting three bank A. Gives a sort of quick volume swell effect and then shuts off.

i'm real curious to try an expression pedal through the envelope input, given it has 8 sliders. not sure how this would work, but the more floor control the better, as reaching down is not exactly what i want to be doing (all the time) during a gig. you can buy the fs-1 for list price on ebay last i checked too. cheers

Anybody try one of these for their step adapter. They cost ~ $3?

Seems more reasonable then spending ~$30 for the Moog step adapter which looks like to me to be just a 1/4" male stereo plug with a 1/4" female "accepting" end.
Yes, the Moog looks nicer (all metal), but $30?

Boss FS-6 tap pedal
I have found if i plug the stereo jack of the FS-6 into the murf, it will take step by step patterns by pressing the A switch. The B Switch works for the standard tempo clock device.
I suspect in the tip-ring-sleeve , the step by step sequencer [pedal A]comes in at the the ring, and grounds at the sleeve, as the tap tempo input [pedal B] on the Boss send's it's signal through the tip- and acts like the normal tap input.
it may be more than you want to pay, but it is a multi purpose tap pedal , and you can have access to both tap-pedal modes at the same time.
